Built on the Rock

The tiki made it.  #tikistrong indeed!

Madison was so happy to hear this.  We were cheering for this little tiki that could, and this hut made it through the storm.  She smiled so big, but we were smiling too.  This aerial shot of the tiki is complements of a satellite service that is currently showing all the damage done to the Florida Keys, which is beyond extensive.  Words really can't describe how bad it is for them down there - it'll take a long time to get back together from this.

Tonight we were talking about the storms coming, and building a house on the rock.  We were using LEGO brick houses to illustrate this, and it worked out as a great illustration.  KidPak went really well tonight.

Madison went back to school today, but the kids in Hall County are out for the entire week, as are some kids in certain Atlanta schools.  Many other counties are out too, simply because it is taking so long to get the trees off the road and the power back on.  It's been terrible for these workers, who are working incredibly long shifts, and facing some grumpy customers complaining about a lack of power, and not grateful for the fact that they still have a house.  Unlike Nana and Ye-Ye.  They spent the night with us, and are settling in nicely.  It's nice to have a full house here, with both sets of grandparents in the house, plus four dogs, two birds, and of course the three of us.  Yes, it's a busy place here.

Today was also her first enrichment class, something she went to with Mrs. Hubbard, the Teacher of the Year and also doing a class that's related to the yearbook this year, which is cool.  Also, Madison has expressed interest in a new club that'll be showing up here soon enough, one that has to do with serving the community.  Needless to say, we're really proud of Madison!
