Madison and Mommy were packing, and got ready in their identical hats. Madison said they were "hat twins," so Daddy had to take a picture. These are cruising hats, that is to say, they'll be wearing them on the cruise!
Daddy was at the office this morning, and Mommy and Madison were busy packing. But finally, we were ready to get out the door, and ready to head south. We didn't leave until about 12:30 or so.
We thought that it might be safe to drive down 400 and go through Atlanta, as traffic should have been a little less. But... no. Atlanta driving, particularly south of Atlanta in Henry Country, is a bad thing to have to do.
Nevertheless, once we made it past Macon, things were smooth sailing. We only stopped three times - two rest areas and one gas station. So we made good time, even despite a few big rainstorms we drove through. One was at the Florida border, and was so solid and dark, it was difficult to see through to the other side. Nevertheless, we made it through, and sunlight appeared - it was the closest thing to an eclipse.
We were listening to Riders Radio on the way down, although somewhere in South Georgia we started talking and doing a lot of reminiscing about twenty years ago. We're coming up on some big anniversaries, as it was twenty years ago that Mommy and Daddy were meeting for the first time. Lots of happy memories!
We made it at 8:30 to Daytona Beach, safe and sound. It's really windy here, and the surf is quite a bit up. This must be a result of Hurricane Maria, right now off the coast of Florida.
So we're here, in any event. And we're tired. Long day. We'll have a restful day tomorrow, and then we're leaving the country for a bit, while Nana and Ye-Ye housesit for us. It'll be lovely cruise!
