Madison has been enjoying season one of "The Tick," soon to be off on season two in a Tick binge watch. She likes American Maid the best, although the rest of the characters are great too. Daddy always liked Die Fledermaus, but the Civic Minded Five are great too. Oh, and Blowhole, the Swiss Army, Chairface Chippendale, Sewer Urchin, Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight, and definitely George Washington Carver. Okay, the list is big - but the show was so good. Unlike the current incarnation. Let's hope they try again in the future, and next time do it right.
Madison got rave reviews of her cell biology presentation today: her job was to compare an animal cell to something else, and what she came up with was so amazingly outside the box. In her presentation, she compared an animal cell to the Confederate Army. A teacher stopped Daddy in the hallway to tell him how great this presentation was. She had pictures and definitions and slides and everything. The nucleus is like Robert E. Lee. The cell wall is like Fort Sumter, letting in what was necessary, while keeping out those things that were unwanted. Like the Union Army. Vacuoles were like supply trains, bringing in the necessary supplies. The cytoplasm is like courage - the very thing that kept the Confederate Army together. Daddy was laughing when Madison was explaining this - it was so outside the box, and yet it actually makes a bit of sense. It also shows some of the other things she's learning in school. She's doing a great job!
Speaking of which, she retook her test today, the one she got a 79 on. It was optional that she could retake it, provided she did about seven pages of additional homework over last weekend. Anyway, she came home and was pretty happy about her new grade: she got a 100!
She's doing really well in school, and keeping busy too. So far, she's handling fifth grade like a champ!
