So yesterday, before we left Georgia completely, Daddy snuck into the offices at KidPak and KP Discovery, and did a little prank. Everyone is gone out of the office Monday - it's the day off. But they all returned today, April 1st. That's April Fool's Day. And I'm not one to let that pass up, typically. I always want to do something! SO, Daddy put tape on the bottom of everyone's mouse at the office, so that none of the mouses (or is it mice?) would work. It's a quick and easy thing to discover - so I'm not that malicious. Once someone picks up the mouse and looks underneath, he or she will see the tape, along with a message that reads "April Fools!" It's not an immense joke, but it is something I did to around eleven computers - so hopefully that was a fun little thing. I didn't leave a calling card that said I did it, which may add to the mystery, mainly because I'm in Florida today as the event is happening. We'll see when we get back how it went over. I'm fully expecting a prank to be played on my computer, which will be fun of course. But at the same time, it won't be April Fool's Day anymore, so it won't count!
Madison was doing her own version of April Fool's Day today, where she hides in obvious places, and then jumps out with a loud "Boo!" That's about it for pranks today, but she understood the one Daddy did and is starting to think of more complex possibilities for next year. Maybe I can train up a pranking genius - or not. I don't want anyone to be completely annoyed! But then again, who would expect a prank of such magnitude from innocent little Madison?
Today is Aunt Shain's birthday. We did call her this morning from Florida to talk for a bit - she wants the movie "Frozen" for her birthday. No problem - we'll probably pick that up from Disney!
This morning we went to the pool. This was our big moment of the day, really. The weather was just right, and the pool was warm. The three of us - Mommy, Daddy and Madison - went for a swim, the first swim of the year, actually. Madison needs to learn how to swim, we decided with certainty. We did our typical training exercises, but I think we're at a place now where we've been for a while: she understands the logistics, but can't implement it. In other words, she can't swim yet. She gets the concepts though. It is for this reason that we decided today to enroll her in swimming lessons this summer. Daddy will take her to the pool frequently this summer too - but the goal is to get her swimming independent of us by the summer's end. We even offered her a reward: if she can learn to swim, we'll take her to Typhoon Lagoon, or Blizzard Beach. This will be a trip for October, probably. Madison thought she'd be getting a power disc if she learned to swim. No, we told her, this is much more important, and bigger to us. We're going to reward you, big time. It's really important to know how to swim.
Our "test" will be going back and forth across our pool at home, without touching the bottom. Or maybe one lap across. It just depends on which part of the pool we do the test on. But if she makes it across, we'll add a destination to our Fall Break.
But today is Spring Break, isn't it? Yes, it is. Today we spent reading, lounging, swimming, and basically doing nothing. Daddy is pretty bored with all this, but it is technically rest, so there you are. We made a trip to the grocery store to get some gluten free products: the grocery stores here have more variety, it seems, than the ones where we live. Also, we got a bunch of Kraft products: macaroni and cheese, lunch snacks, and string cheese. Why did we get these? So that we could take advantage of a coupon for the LEGOLAND park. We saved $30 on tickets for Mommy and Daddy, and in addition to that, Madison goes free. So we're definitely still in budget mode here, saving about $100, honestly. Yay, us!
Tonight we played a bit of "Headbandz" with Madison. This is the game where you put a card on your head - but don't know what it is. It's a picture of somebody, or some thing. Fortunately, the theme is Disney, so we at least have a tiny bit of a head start in guessing. Anyway, the person wearing the card has to guess what is on the card, asking yes or no questions. This is surprisingly difficult! Madison, Mommy and Daddy were all having a tough time asking the right questions to deduce who it was on their heads! But it was fun for all of us, and we'll probably be doing this again sometime soon. Probably before the end of the week, no less!
Madison went to bed around 8:00 tonight, and Mommy and Daddy watched the latest "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." episode. Then, it was time for bed. It may be the heat down here, but we're all a bit exhausted from all this rest!
