Live and Let Dye

This afternoon - after school - we got down to business with those eggs.  Easter is just a few days off, so we had to get busy coloring those eggs!  This is something we enjoy doing each year - we weren't as experimental this year as we usually are.  I think we were simply impressed with the vivid colors - the reds, purples, oranges, yellows and the turquoise were all so great to look at.  Here, take a look for yourself:

As we were dying the eggs, we watched "The Rise of the Guardians."  In a nifty little coincidence, the movie actually takes place three days before Easter.  So there you go!

We did do some piano today, and of course there was Disney Infinity.  Madison and Daddy are constructing a hotel at the moment.  I think that's what it is.  There are also some new playsets with egg hunts in them, which is kind of cool.

SPEAKING of egg hunts, today Madison went on a field trip to Warbington Farms.  This is a location we haven't visited yet - but Madison has, apparently.  She went this morning with her school, where the students went out to find Easter eggs.  This is egg hunt #1.  The weather held out just long enough for the kids this morning - it did rain, and in fact it is currently in deluge mode.  But this morning, the weather was decent enough for the kids to get out and find those eggs.  Madison got fourteen eggs, which she was proud of.  The student limit is about twelve, so that everyone gets their fair share of eggs.  But then there were enough eggs for the kids to grab a few more.  So Madison came home with a decent haul, each egg having candy inside.  Egg-cellent!

Mommy and Daddy went to the Good Friday service today at our church.  It was good to see so many other people there at noon in the middle of a weekday.  Of course, it was Good Friday, an incredibly meaningful day - and an incredibly meaningful service.  We're so blessed to have Dr. Mark Rutland with us on staff as well.  He was eloquent and engaging, and truly captured in just a few words what Good Friday is all about.  It wasn't good for Jesus, but it was good for us.

Tonight, the Easter bunny is getting busy with all the baskets for the nephews and for Madison.  It's late in the evening, but we're nearly done helping out with decorations and so forth.  The rain is pouring outside, dashing our plans for an egg hunt tomorrow.  The idea was to do the egg hunt at Nana and Ye-Ye's house tomorrow, but that can wait until Easter Sunday.  It's okay, we're fine!

Anyway, it's been a good Friday for us.  It's a wonderful season, and it was so nice to go to church this afternoon.  We're sometimes quite busy this time of year with big productions at the church, but this time we've got a chance to attend, worship, and listen.  It really was a good Friday for us!
