One Hundred Years Old

"When I am one hundred years old... I'll be a grand mom.  I will have grandkids.  I will knit scarves and walk with a cane.  I will have grey hair and will have glasses.  I will be dead and be wrinkly."
- Madison

This was a great project Madison brought home with her.  Of course, she brings home all sorts of stuff now, and is so funny and creative with each thing.  This one had us cracking up though.  Her spelling is a little off, but keep in mind she's in first grade and learning to spell things out based on the way she thinks they sound.  She's actually a really good speller - this morning, she nailed once again her most recent spelling list, getting word after word correct with little or no effort.

After school, we went over to the Disney Store again, this time to pick up a movie that we prepurchased some time ago:  "The Pirate Fairy."

That was tonight's big event:  the official viewing.  We had popcorn and a blanket too - the weather has been a little cool at night.  So much so that Daddy actually set up a fire in the fireplace, and we were set in the living room as if it were a crisp, fall day.

It rained today.  A lot.  So much that we've discovered places where our roof needs a bit of fixing.  That'll be next week, but until then we'll be doing routine maintenance elsewhere in the house as well.  Spring Cleaning is what it is called, and the work is never done.  But we're fine.

Of note:  we're now listening to the soundtrack to "Muppets Most Wanted," which has knocked the "Frozen" soundtrack off for a bit.  This is a refreshing soundtrack to hear in the mornings, as we've been sort of hoping Madison would "let it go" when it came to singing as Elsa again.  That's a tall order - with many kids her age, all you have to do is say those same three words, and they're off with all the flair and drama of the Snow Queen.  But at least for the time being we have a different soundtrack in the car on the way to school, and it's a good one that Daddy enjoys too.  Not that we didn't enjoy "Frozen," of course.  It's just difficult to calculate the number of times we've heard these songs - they're permanently implanted in our memories, probably like a lot of parents across the country!
