So the DeSantafication Process was in full swing today, as we did a bit of teamwork to get most of the Christmas tree ornaments off of the two trees. We did not finish up, but that was a lofty goal to accomplish in one day. Fortunately, we do have tomorrow to wrap things up. So Phase II will begin tomorrow, although a bit earlier. We started a bit late today due to the late night beforehand, and that's how we started out our new year: sleeping in.
Madison and Daddy played a bit of Disney Infinity before Mommy got up. Madison was up pretty early, considering the fact she stayed up until midnight last night. It could be because she had a Condorman power disc beside her bed when she woke up this morning. That was Daddy's "Happy New Year" present to her, and I suppose she was anxious to try it out.
Madison's favorite character on this game is currently the Lone Ranger, believe it or not. That's all we've played lately, venturing to the wild, wild west time and again. We load and decorate trains, explore abandoned silver mines, race horses and fire off Gatling guns at targets. The Lone Ranger and Tonto are the new heroes on the block.
But for a time while undecorating the trees, we were with a few other heroes. We watched "Planes" again, another Christmas gift, and we also went back to "Brave," which is still an incredible movie. These were playing as we were slowly putting back all of the Christmas decorations.
Mommy made egg drop soup for everyone for dinner - and breakfast was pancakes. Here's a big "Madison moment:" she likes pancakes. She finally tried one voluntarily, with syrup of course. And her world is now a much better place: she loves pancakes. This will make breakfast a squillion times better, won't it? Especially with Daddy's new Christmas present - a Mickey-shaped pancake maker. Yes, that's right: Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes for breakfast. The bonus: they're gluten free for Mommy. That's a big, big plus. And they taste just like regular pancakes too. So back to Pancake Junction we go!
Daddy loaded up Madison's Tag pen with the two new books she got, so she did have some time to use that with her new books she got for Christmas. And her new Explorer games now have the extra apps attached, thanks to a quick hook-up. Madison was reviewing math problems like 9 X 5 a little ahead of time, apparently. She hasn't gotten through her multiplication tables at school, and yet here she is already dealing with that with her Explorer. This, of course, is good. It keeps things challenging for her, and of course she's learning along the way. Her new books: "Monsters University" and one with Spongebob (we found the latter at Goodwill!). Her new Explorer games: "Cooking Recipes on the Road" and "Monsters University." All of these have captured her attention, which is great to see.
It's time to start acclimating to a new schedule. School is coming soon, and considering Madison got up so early this morning, we are getting her ready for bed at a regular time tonight. Before that, it was time for a bath. We kept joking with her today: "You haven't had a bath all year!"
Tonight we'll probably sit down and watch a movie as a fire continues in the fireplace. It's chilly outside, but the weather is supposed to get really cold next week. One report had it being the coldest it's been in ten years - maybe in the single digits. Yikes!
Our Christmas candy supply is dwindling. This is probably a good thing. The church fast is approaching quickly - it starts this Sunday. There is still a lot of chocolate and a few lollipops. Makes me think of Wilbur Wonka: "Cavities on a stick!"
Oh, but they're so scrumpdiddlyumptious!
