Peasants and Kings

It was a long day at church today, with the Spanish ministry following the regular services. But what great services they were - we were back fully into our Excalibur series, with Daddy dressed as the good Friar (above), with kings, peasants and eventually a princess.  The drama was one of the best-done I've been a part of, as all the components just clicked in this marvelous way.  The audience loved it, and we were off an running with an exciting new series.

But it was a long day yesterday setting this up.  Daddy stayed past ten at the office, actually.  This is not quite the record, of course.  That would be one of several all-nighters.  But it does take a toll on you, so upon getting home from the Spanish service, there was much resting to be done.

Madison enjoyed the services this morning with Mrs. Halston, who had a birthday today.  Too bad nobody could have anything like cake on this birthday - the whole church is fasting. But Mommy has promised something special for her once the fast is over with.  We'll take pictures, so don't worry.

We finished up our piano practice today, which was spaced out rather well, actually.  Madison got her reward - a "pizza delivery" that magically showed up outside at the front door.  She opened up the door and looked down, and there was her newest power disc, the Pizza Planet delivery truck.  We played Disney Infinity for a bit after that, of course, adding monster truck wheels to the Pizza Planet truck to do various stunts.  Yes, it's that kind of game.

Madison has had this new Bible that we've been reading - it's great for kids.  It makes everything kid-friendly, and it is much longer than your typical kids Bible.  There are illustrations in it as well, which make it great for bedtime reading.  Madison has been requesting stories to be read at night, and that makes Daddy and Mommy extremely happy to hear.  We spoke about Abraham tonight, and Madison was all ears.  This was new territory for her.  She knows about Joshua and Noah and some of the other famous Old Testament folks, but poor Abraham doesn't have anything as fantastic as a flood, falling walls or even splitting of the Red Sea.  Nonetheless, Madison was very interested in hearing Daddy as he read the Bible to her.  And everything was right with the world.

DAY EIGHT
In 1 Corinthians 1:4, Paul says, “I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus.” God has given us grace and forgiven us of so much! In your heart, forgive others who have wronged you in the past – just as God has forgiven you. When you feel you’ve forgiven everyone, write it down here: “I have forgiven everyone,” and sign your name.

In our Bibles, Ezra fasted and prayed for protection on a long journey. Pray for your protection, and list others you would like God to protect in the coming year.

Read today’s Bible story in Matthew 7:1-5. What is it that Jesus is telling us not to do in this passage?
