Domino

The theme of the night was "Domino," so I thought we'd run with it.  We had a Math Night tonight at the school, which was extremely well done.  The focus of the event was helping parents teach children mathematic concepts using different common objects such as playing cards, and yes, dominos.  Not only was it an educational sort of night, it was a fun night as well, as the kids and parents sat and played games against each other using the cards and dominoes that were handed out.  Yes, we got free cards and dominoes.  Madison already has a few other domino sets, one with Disney Princesses on it.  But these were from this night, a souvenir of sorts, so they're special dominoes.

Madison's friend Elizabeth was here tonight as well, so that added to the night.  They had a great time playing and learning, and doing some crafts as well.  We walked out of there with a lot of free resources, and did we mention pizza?  No, it wasn't from "Domino's," but it was good nonetheless.

One of Daddy's favorite Marvel characters happens to be a gal named Domino.  I don't know what she's been up to the last ten years or so - or many other Marvel characters in comics for that matter.  Back in the 90's though, I could tell you a whole lot about all the characters, because I bought most of their comic books.  There came a point though, where there was a natural sort of ending of a chapter to many of the characters at all the same time, so I hit the pause button on collecting comics, and never picked up the habit again.  I pick up older comics from time to time, and graphic novels containing a series of comics - but nothing like it used to be.

I've got this comic here.  Back then, Domino was seen in the pages of "Cable" comics, and "X-Force" as well, and all the countless crossovers that took place back then.  I always thought her mutant gift was pretty awesome:  pure luck.  Her name stems from the fact that things just seem to "fall into place" for her.  She's quite similar to Longshot in that respect - he's another guy who has the mutant ability of sheer luck.  She has the edge for one or two reasons though:  her character is somewhat spunky, a smart-mouthed sort of character with that sort of mercenary edge that was popular at the time.

Wouldn't it be great to have the mutant ability of sheer luck?  Frank Sinatra keeps begging Luck to be a lady tonight, but it doesn't usually happen.  Though we are blessed and highly favored, our streak of never winning at any drawing continued tonight, and that's okay.  We are blessed despite all of this:  we  have so much to be thankful for!

Tonight we had ballet for a bit at Brenau.  Things are back on pace there - Daddy drops Madison off, and sits out in the hall or car and reads a book for a bit while she dances.  She enjoys the class, although tonight she said her feet were getting too big for her ballet shoes.  Easily solved problem:  Mommy has new shoes all set and ready for such an occasion, this size a little bigger.  It did give Madison a chance to use one of her favorite words: "throbbing."  This is what substitutes for "it hurts."  She tells us it is throbbing.  This dates back to when the word was a spelling word a few weeks ago.

Today was cold, and tomorrow will be cold too.  Mommy and Daddy did a bit of cleaning up in the house again, but we also spent a lot of time preparing for our newest series "Storm Chasers," which starts in March.  We watched a few movies and documentaries, and got a lot of great ideas for messages.  We work great as a team, developing thoughts and sparking ideas that evolve into something greater.  Can't wait to show some of them to you here.

Everything is indeed just "falling into place!"

DAY TWELVE
Psalm 45:1 says “Beautiful words stir my heart. I will recite a lovely poem about the king.” Words of praise written from the heart please God very much. Even if they don’t rhyme like a poem, write down thoughts of praise for your King today.

Jesus is called the Great Physician, and He can heal today, as He did throughout the pages of the New Testament. Write the names of people you know who need healing in any area, and don’t forget yourself if you need to be well again! In Exodus 15:26, we hear God say, “I am the Lord, Who heals you.”

Read today’s Bible story in Matthew 9:35-38. We read in this passage where Jesus had concern for the multitudes that needed a shepherd. He said, “The harvest is huge. But there are only a few workers.” How can you help today, and be one of those who are working for Jesus?
