An Evening with Dr. Edith Eger

Tonight we attended a virtual evening with a Holocaust survivor named Dr. Edith Eger, and it was unforgettable.  Maddie heard about this event earlier, and as she's super interested in that period of time and the plight of the Jewish people, she just had to go.  Her friends were there too, and of course we all went along as well, as this was a unique opportunity.  We arrived at the FoCal Center in Cumming, a new facility that had a good number of people filling in the seats to hear her speak.  A moderator was present to speak to her over an online call, which you can see above on the big screen, and the guided questions brought out stories from the past that were horrifying, and important for everyone to hear.  It was also inspiring to hear this woman's life, seeing where she came from, and what she went through, but also seeing what she was able to do with a life that was meant to be snuffed out forever.  We could sit there and listen for as long as she wanted to talk, which turned out to be roughly an hour and a half or so.  We got there a little early, so it was a longer night, but it was a nice place and we really were glad we went tonight.  Maddie enjoyed it quite a bit.

It was a good day today, as we read and prayed and went about our daily routines at school and at work.  We went to bed tonight with a sense of gratitude about what we're blessed with, and how blessed our lives have been.
