Until not long ago, I had never heard of having shrimp and grits together, at least not until I saw it as an entry in a restaurant a few years ago. To me, the idea of these two items together didn't seem to work. Mom made a go of it this morning though with a special breakfast surprise, and it was actually really good. I think it all just depends on what your ingredients are, and in this case, she had just the right things in there. It was like a gumbo with grits, I think. Anyway, it was a really good breakfast, and hopefully not the last time I get to have something like that. You can see our leprechaun salt and pepper shakers looking on in envy. One's trying to bribe me with gold while the other is playing a mournful Irish tune on his fiddle in an attempt to get me to feel sorry for him. Not going to happen, leprechuans!
Anyway, today Maddie had an early release from school, and what better way to celebrate than by going to the dentist! She had a regular cleaning there today, and one thing of note was a developing cavity between two teeth that was the result of possibly not flossing enough. I'm not talking about the dance.
I was at work of course, busy with KidPak prep and Easter prep too. We're getting into a super busy season right now, getting ready for a massive Easter spectacular. Outside, our bluebirds seem to have taken up residence in our backyard, with Mom dominating the one feeder all the time, taking so many drinks throughout the day from the water there. It really makes me wonder where other bluebirds get their water from, or is ours just that good?
Tonight we watched "Episode II" again, part of the start of our Star Wars marathon now. We've got so much of these movies memorized by this point. And everyone hates sand.
A recent craze has sort of caught on amongst our group, a daily game called "Wordle." Maddie's involved, as is Camille, Isaac, Joey and myself. At least for the time being. The idea is to guess a word over the course of a puzzle, and try to guess it before you run out of attempts. I think we're all doing rather well at the moment, everyone sending texts to one another boasting of how many tries it took to get the most recent word. Then everyone waits until the next day...
It's supposed to get cold again this weekend, and we may even see snow flurries. This is surprising. We put some wood by the fireplace and we're getting ready for the cold one more time this winter.
Kingdom Keepers continued tonight, with the whole idea of sending messages back and forth sixty years being explored. It's easy enough to send a message forward sixty years, but how do you send another one backwards? Ah, the difficulties of time travel!
We prayed tonight, and were quite happy getting into bed with the knowledge that no school tomorrow means we all get to sleep in just a little bit...!
