Madison was back at piano today, back at her class tonight at Funderful World of Music. Mrs. Pam decorates the front entrance, and it always makes for a nice photo op. Daddy didn't have his camera, but Madison had her small device, so we used that to snap this picture above. The words on the door say, "Time to Shine," and there are all kinds of glitter and silverly streamers. Madison did well with that today, and things are just getting started there, of course. We've got new things to play, but she's also got some other things she's picked up, sheets of music that Daddy printed out for her by request.
Madison's pre-test results in math were horrible. But that's the fun thing about pre-tests. You feel frustrated because you want to do your best, but we were explaining that it is impossible to get many, many answers correct because you haven't gone over how to do the problems yet. So she did well on the sixth grade material, and did okay with a little of the other material for seventh grade, and did terrible on the eighth grade stuff. I told her that this is one test where it's okay to get a 30 as a final grade.
Daddy was giving tours to our visiting guests, and they wound up seeing the Gwinnett Campus, the Chapel, meeting the music department, and the staffs of all of these places. It was sort of a perfect day to be a tour guide, and they had a great time.
Tonight, we were filling out the zillions of permission slips for school, including the ones for Madison in science where she had to get ready for various labs. It sounds like she'll be dissecting something, which of course is always a fun conversation. We were talking about science, and of course calling out in that old man voice: "SCIENCE!" She has no idea what that's from, so we played Thomas Dolby's song from the 80's, "She Blinded Me with Science," and then for good measure, played "Weird Science" after that as we were sitting there filling out forms and writing out things.
We watched another few episodes of "Agent Carter" tonight, already just one episode away from the last episode of the first season. After that, continuing our reading - and of course, praying. We're praying for the people in these cities this weekend where shootings have occurred. It's awful, and it's unfortunate that media and politicians have been trying to loudly throw blame and accusations at anyone. As if that will help right now. The very thing they're doing is amping up the anger and emotions, the very things that helped fuel the incidents in the first place. We prayed for those who were hurting, and wishing this world were a lot different. We said our prayers of grace over us, grateful for our family together.
