It was time for combat sticks! Madison was practicing tonight with her combat stick, sparring with various opponents and not doing too bad! They were all boys, and mom and dad were there to watch through the windows. Daddy was probably a little more excited than most, pointing and yelling from time to time like a true sports parent. Uh-oh, I'd better dial that back a little. Still, we were proud of Madison and she was doing well this evening.
Today she was working on her journalism quiz, and we got the results of the first math quiz back, which was an 88. She studied for this one, and didn't too bad. We'll have to see what she missed, and see if we can spring from there.
Speaking of "spring," wouldn't it be nice to have that sort of weather again? It's been oppressively hot around here lately, the kind of weather where you dive indoors as soon as possible. The humidity is supposed to give way soon, and that will result in cooler temperatures, at least in the morning. For the time being it feels a lot hotter than the actual thermometer is telling us, and that's what gives way to the old expression, "It's not the heat, it's the humidity." Sure enough, it felt super hot around here this week, and the raging thunderstorms in the evenings were a welcome presence, even if they got a little noisy.
Daddy is working on the "Toy Box" material, from videos to music to the stage. Mommy is working on costumes, and Madison is working on her next chapter of the autobiography. She's writing about her family, and just might be perusing this blog again for a few more details about dates and so forth. She can see Mommy immediately about ancestry, of course.
The club Live to Give" came up again, and since it is after school, this is presenting an interesting challenge. The students are currently voting for the afternoon that works best for them, but there's no clear consensus. Getting there early would be great, instead of after school. There's so much going on lately!
Tonight we continued with season two of Agent Carter, and we're almost done with that. Madison did some studying too, looking at estimating square roots. Perhaps she can be as smart as one of the scientists on television, and develop some zero matter. Or maybe that would be a bad idea. No, let's scratch that. Bad idea.
We read tonight, once again returning to our Star Wars book. And we said our prayers for family, for healing and for a good night's rest. It's a busy season for us all, and there's a lot going on both at church and beyond. We'll see how it all plays out, but we trust in God, and we know it all works out for those who love Him.
