Frank

Frank is back, as you can see here.  It's basically Daddy in an inflatable gorilla costume, a ridiculous character that the kids seem to love.  This morning was an abbreviated service, our Back to School Prayer service where the kids all go through the line upstairs, each one personally prayed for by Pastor Franklin and the staff.

It was a rainy morning, and a sunny afternoon, a lazy afternoon.  We actually had a mini-marathon of Agent Carter episodes - with some popcorn, of course.  Madison kept saying, "One more?"  We were good with that, because we weren't exactly energized to do too much more.  We were cleaning up today, doing a bit with laundry, dishes, and cooking.  Mommy was trying a new concoction with pineapple skin that was really delicious.

Madison has a chance to relax somewhat, as we're not too far into the school year yet.  Things are going to get moving soon enough though.  We were reading through the material, and she'll be learning about more of the globe, including Africa.  She'll be studying biology as well as some new math, including irrational numbers.  Those are my favorite numbers, because we have so much in common.  Her work with journalism sounds fun, with design elements mixed with interviews and writing stories.  We got a new book for her to read, an assigned one called "Refuge."  This one has some mixed reviews, so Daddy may be reading this one early as well - you'll no doubt be hearing about here in this blog.  It might not be that bad, but part of being a parent is a balance of knowing what's going on, what's being read, what's being watched, and what's being listened to.  We'll post a review here in a bit when we get to it!

The one big thing is the time between class, and how reduced that is now - it's down to three minutes.  It's supremely difficult for the kids to make it in time, even getting to the bus on time at the end of the day.  Three minutes to get to the locker and then to the final call for buses.  Lots of kids are complaining, and this is certainly an issue for Madison, who does her very best to follow the rules wherever possible.

Anyway, all that starts soon enough, and we'll be fairly busy.  In the meantime, we're gearing up, and resting up before the first full week of school, starting tomorrow.
