Mal'ary'ush

Daddy has been reading to the girls this ongoing story for the past several weeks now, and we're on book two at this point, one called "Dark Force Rising."  It's been a heavy read, and perhaps not really meant to be read out loud before bedtime. That is to say, they're some big books, and this might take a while.  Nevertheless, we're pushing forward with this second book, including all the challenges of reading the names of new alien worlds, new alien names, and new alien titles like "Mal'ary'ush."  That one is actually easier compared to others, and in the end, it's only Daddy sitting there reading it. My listeners will believe whatever pronunciation I choose!  I remember reading a lot from "A Series of Unfortunate Events," and being greatly relieved to hear I pronounced things correctly after watching the television series.  Outside of an official audio book, I'm not sure where to find the exact pronunciation of most of these terms, so who knows?  I could be saying it right all along, right?!?

Tonight we had taekwondo, where the focus is on combat sticks and some more sparring.  There is a bit of memorization to do for her form, and that will take some time to master.  But she's moving right along, and it all looks good from at least my point of view.

It was a super hot day, as we're in the middle of this crazy heat wave.  It's oppressive, in-your-face temperatures, and no fun to be outside for long periods of time.  We've been passing by the home of the future high school nearby, and pitying those guys working there, as well as the ones still working on Browns Bridge.

Nevertheless, we still drink hot tea.  I only bring this up because Mommy was in at work today, and we don't neglect our tea.  No sir!  We had some peppermint tea at the office, which ironically is kept at ludicrously colder temperatures due to the fact that we're near the air conditioning source for the entire building.  We walk outside and our glasses steam up from the change of cold to the sudden intense humidity.  Our work today was on some trivia slides for an upcoming segment of our "Toy Box" series, along with some other things such as KPTV and the latest issues of Parenting Matters, a printed resource Daddy has been writing for since 2005 or so.  We still have printed copies of those early ones in the house.  They go back to a time before we were even doing series at KidPak.  And here we are, still doing them week by week.

On the way home, we're getting our free drink every day from Race Trac.  Daddy is now officially a SULTAN of SWAG, or something like that.  We've been earning points for years now, and as of this summer, I get a free drink each day for I think the rest of the time that I continue going there.  So it only makes sense to drop by there on the way home from taekwondo to get a drink.  Sometimes we get a Snickers bar for Mommy, and a few taquitos for Madison if she's looking for something slightly bigger than a small snack.  She loves the taquitos!

Tonight was Agent Carter again, as we barrel along with season two.  It won't be long before we're done with that, and then on to the next thing, whatever that may be.  We read afterwards, and there were prayers and zerberts.  It's a busy week as we lead up to this new series, and there's another new one after that.  Lots going on right now - it's an exciting time, we'll just put it that way!
