So here we are with a skit that uses props we went to Calhoun yesterday - we had a fun time with this one, and the onesie that Nerdo is wearing there got some laughs. The audience had a lot of Buc-ee's fans and were appreciating all the little references there. It was a great service today - Maddie took a bunch of pictures and put them on the church website. I'll share some here below:
Our friend Elizabeth here works with Turning Point, her sister a manager there. It's been a horrible week for them, and in fact Elizabeth is heading to Arizona for the memorial service later on this week. We spent some time talking with her this morning before we left. Our main service spent a good bit of time honoring Charlie Kirk. The tributes and services and testimonies pouring in since his passing have been remarkable. There have been a lot of tears this week.
The rest of our day had a Wonderland theme to it. It was the last day to see the Alice in Wonderland display at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, so we decided to make that trip so I could see it this time. And we thought it would be fun to bring Nate along too! But first, some food!
Yep, here we are at the Mellow Mushroom in Gainesville again, a place that has a Wonderland vibe to it at times. But it's also pretty good food! None of us got pizza this time, instead going for the wings and in my case, some meatballs! All of it was really good!
Then we picked up Nate, and drove down to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. We ran into some traffic on the way down, because it's Atlanta, and driving down there, the odds are always in favor of something being awful. But we did make it to our destination - by the way we took Cheshire Bridge Road.
These are my pictures this time, just some pictures I took with the cellphone. We walked about the grounds for a good bit, and at one point we stopped for some popsicles and a drink. There was a good bit of people there, probably because it's the last day for this display. But it was also a weekend and good weather outside, a little hot, but at least a little overcast too. Nate and Maddie were walking around separate to us, but we met up from time to time, and of course met up at the gift shop at the end of the day. I got to see a hummingbird moth, and both Maddie and Mom saw some new things they didn't see last time. The grounds are nice, of course bigger than what you see in Gainesville by quite a bit. And the displays are much more impressive - I loved the things that were set up.
Anyway, here are the pictures below, along with a video of the hummingbird moth. It was a nice trip down the rabbit hole!
The front cover greets you at the entrance.
Alice falls down the rabbit hole!
Chocolate Mint smells so good1
Well, that's appropriate!
For some reason, we missed the Cheshire Cat the first time around!
The Queen is hoping to do well with that hedgehog ball through the card-hoop!
Maddie and Nate imitate the rose flower behind them...
Singing Flowers! Speakers played female voices singing loudly all around these topiaries.
We got home, and of course we watched "Alice in Wonderland." We'll watch the sequel on Mad Hatter Day, which is only a few weeks away. After that, time for some short reading, prayers, and time to get some sleep!
