Mom and I saw this classic movie tonight, a movie from 1956 that got everyone thinking that aliens flew in spaceships that looked like flying saucers. I've always wanted to watch this one because Ray Harryhausen did the special effects, and although things were pretty dated - the movie is nearly 70 years old - it was still entertaining and fun. The attack in Washington DC was pretty cool, although it was tough watching those classic monuments and buildings get destroyed by aliens that lost control of their ships. In 1956 we lost the Washington Monument, the Capitol Building and the Supreme Court. Those dastardly aliens! To celebrate, Mom even made me some of that Bones Coffee, "Mint Invaders from Chocolate Space!" Delicious!
It was a nice day today. Maddie was at Free Chapel Young Adults tonight, and enjoyed the service, although she was worried at first about being too young amongst a sea of older folks. She still enjoyed the service a good bit.
We were working today at the office, getting some things done for a book in October. Got some new artwork done, although we're not quite sure about what's going on at the church as a whole in October. We've just had some events recently - nationwide and even at our church itself - that resulted in an increase of security. There are more police officers at the church in a more prominent position, their cars parked or even patrolling around the grounds as we walk in and out of the building. It's surreal.
Tonight we caught one more episode of "Brisco County, Jr." and wrapped up the legacy of John Bly, and the mysterious orb too. We even got to see a guest appearance from President Grover Cleveland! Of course, he's been remembered a lot lately, given the recent election. Anyway, there are about eight episodes left that we'll squeeze in soon enough, given all the seasonal shows we've been watching lately.
We read tonight, and after that, prayers. Still praying for this nation.
