This afternoon we were at a baby shower for our friends Megan and Tommy, and it was a really nice time for everyone. We were there for just a few hours at an elementary school over in Cumming. It was nice to spend time with friends, play games, and of course watch the parade of gifts that came showering down for our friends who are expecting twins!
That's a lot of diapers! One fun idea was a bingo card for all the people there, one where you could fill in what you think the parents-to-be would unwrap, and then as the unwrapping moved forward, everyone was checking off different gifts on their bingo cards. We had all kinds of fall-related decor and food items, including plenty of pumpkin spice.
Now yesterday was an interesting day. I was struggling with a script for Sunday, for a message about "getting refueled at church," of course tying it to our automotive themed series. So the thought hit me about Buc-ee's, the ultimate gas station right now, and how a lot of people are obsessed with the place. So I imagined our skit team going to a Buc-ee's on their way to a big race, and just sort of wrote something out that I think will be fun - but one item on the list was a Buc-ee's onesie, and some Beaver Nuggets. How could I get these props in time for tomorrow?
Yes, that's right, we drove to Buc-ee's this morning. We went to the one in Calhoun, which was listed as an hour and thirty-six minutes away, but I think it was a little longer because of some traffic back-up in Canton due to some festival there. But yes, Mom and Maddie and I drove all the way to Buc-ee's today, and yes, we got that onesie and the Beaver Nuggets, and we got some food there too - Maddie got beef jerky, and Mom and I shared the chicken salad with cranberries in it, and we all got drinks - Mom got a pretty good new lemonade, and I got some new Texas tea. We shopped around - I'm using this image I took this morning as a background image on the screens during the skit. We got a license plate that says "BUC-EE'S" on it, plus a ball cap for a costume. We were going to get the apron, but it was a little dull and not quite what we were hoping for visually. But it was just fun to walk around there. I got some new Halloween themed socks, yes with Buc-ee on them. A fun item we bought for the skit tomorrow: they actually have Buc-ee's Toilet Spray. Maddie got a few items as well, including pickle chips.
This was the first Buc-ee's location that Mom and I have been to, about two years ago. It's only been two years? Anyway, here's a few pictures for "research," pictures we took of our fun little adventure this morning.

| Yes, we met the legend himself! Clad in Georgia Bulldogs gear - they won today, by the way. |

As you could imagine, we were ready to settle down after the baby shower. We got home, and it was a little later. We watched "Hotel Transylvania 2" tonight, and got to bed early. Tomorrow's going to be a huge day at the church, given all the events of the week. But we have a fun skit ready! We read tonight from our recent book, and then we said our prayers. Time to get some sleep!
