Indivisible

September 11 is here, and our country hasn't learned anything.  That word in the Pledge of Allegiance is one I don't think I use that much, as it seems a bit antiquated, but it really stuck with me today:  indivisible.  It's quite a mouthful, and one of those words a kindergartener trying to remember the Pledge of Allegiance just sputters out without stopping to think too much because there's so many other words left to say.  But here we are, and there's that word, indivisible.  After such a dark day of tragedy, it seems that we're actually more divisible than indivisible.  Look at the officers posted at the front of our church.  That's not to defend our office and staff from foreign invaders.  Isn't it crazy that you have to do something like that in front of schools and churches?

This morning, I attended chapel with Maddie and the college students, and a good number of staff too.  It was a prayer service, and that was scheduled before, but the timing was perfect.

We remembered 9-11 today, but not that much to be honest, because there's a shooter on the loose, presumably in Utah somewhere, and everyone is still reeling from yesterday's horrible events.  We were working a good bit today in the office, and we had meetings about security and about upcoming events too - it seems our October is going to be quite different at KidPak.

Tonight Maddie was there teaching students at taekwondo, and then doing her leadership class as well, and that was fun.  Maddie spent some extra time with Nate tonight, and after that it was time to head home - we watched a few more episodes of Brisco County, Jr., almost done there.

Then it was time for reading, and prayers.  Tough to get some sleep tonight, as there's so much on our hearts with the world.  It hurts.
