Got my first post card today on Victor's journey, and it's from the town crier. Hear Ye! Hear Ye! It's pretty fun, and it'll be great doing this one into October, getting different virtual messages and images as I walk along the virtual path.
So most of the day today I was at the church helping with the Divine Conference. For a good while, I was at a table with some younger kids, and we were all using crayons. It was certainly something a little different, but I was enjoying it. The kids were making requests for odd things in the pictures as I was drawing them, but I complied - and I thought I'd share them here:
Maddie was with Nate today, and that was a pleasant day over at their house. They were watching "Agent Carter" episodes, something Nate hasn't seen before, and enjoying those.
I got home and did the walking, and was catching up with Mom on a few things around the house, and when Maddie got home, yes, we in fact watched "The Corpse Bride," and we do love this movie. I remember Maddie playing "Victor's Solo" on the piano once upon a time. We've seen this movie once a year going back all the way to the beginning, when we first saw it in theaters. Given that I'm walking a virtual path with this theme, it seems as if this is the month of "The Corpse Bride." I'll have to look into some pumpkin designs, eh?
Tonight I was just marveling at all the skill involved in this sort of thing, and given the abilities of AI, how stop-motion filming may be a thing of the past. It does seem like a lot of what we see from movies may be going away away - even actors eventually. No doubt someone is making an AI movie at the moment with virtual actors, virtual sets and even virtually created music and it may be something fantastic, and that will change things quite a bit. No wonder people in Hollywood are upset. But consider the fact that just over a hundred years ago, there were no cinematic movies at all. Just like Kodak film, some industries can be changed by technology suddenly and dramatically - and almost unexpectedly.
Anyway, I got a few early gifts from Mom for my birthday, seasonal items like this awesome Scooby Doo t-shirt, and a Haunted Mansion one as well. Also I got several pairs of seasonal socks. And one really cool item is this graphic novel, "The Haunted Mansion."
I've read this several times before, checking it out from the library from time to time. Whoever wrote this clearly had a love for the Disney attraction and characters within, because there's so much respect and so many easter eggs. It's just a fun book with so many nods to so much, all while keeping the mystery and fun of the attraction intact. It's just a splendid book, and I picked it up... and read the whole thing in one sitting before bedtime tonight.
Okay, all that aside, we finished another book tonight, "Feet of Clay," and it was so much fun that tomorrow we start with another City Watch book. We'll keep rolling with these Discworld books, as we have quite a few. We said our prayers after that, and got to sleep on time. Tomorrow's a church day, and also a little fun afterwards!
