Talking Like a Pirate

Arrr!  It be Talk Like a Pirate Day once again!  We celebrated quite a bit today with some piratical nonsense, watching "Pirates!  A Band of Misfits" tonight before bed, and yes, it was quite a Ham Nite.  I had my old-school KidPak pirate shirt on, the one that says, "Arrr!"  We posted online some pictures with Jack Sparrow from our recent cruise, with wishes for everyone to have a happy Talk Like a Pirate Day.  And this morning while walking on the treadmill, I had "Cutthroat Island" playing.

I haven't seen that pirate movie in many years, and I'll be ready to watch the next part tomorrow on the treadmill.  Meanwhile, I gained another couple miles on the Scooby Doo virtual path, moving on with this mystery.  I earned another post card, and a character card too, and I think there's about a week left until I've finished the virtual adventure.

We finished up some details for Sunday's KidPak material, which had gone through a lot of changes since Wednesday.  I have two entirely different full scripts for the day, but perhaps that other one can be used next week - we'll see.  Anyway, it's all good - we're ready to go again.

The car is still at the shop, and it's going to be expensive again.  Every repair on this car is expensive.  Like, we could use the money to go on a cruise expensive.  In the meantime, we have a loaner that is fairly comparable, but of course much newer.  I'm so old-school I'm trying to figure out how to play the radio in this thing.  But the virtual map is pretty cool.

Mom had this fun idea today to go see Disney on Ice in a few weeks, because the tickets were reduced in price quite a bit.  We went ahead and got four tickets for a few Sundays from now because why not!

Tonight Maddie had taekwondo of course, and while she was sparring and training, Mom and I did a lot of grocery shopping, stocking everything up again.  We picked up a few seasonal items.  In honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day, I got some strong ginger beer.  I love the strong ginger taste!  Another item we got was the pumpkin spice black tea, which was unique.  We had that later on.  We also picked up some Wensleydale Cheese for an upcoming Wallace and Gromit night!  It's that season again.

Maddie had a good time at taekwondo.  We dropped Nate off, and went home to grab a bite to eat.  After that, it was time for some pirating.  It was a good day today, one we closed up with reading from the Discworld again.  Nobby Nobbs is not royalty after all, and Sgt. Colon just had a daring escape in our latest bit of reading.  The story is advancing, and we're fairly sure who's behind it all.

Okay, time for some sleep.  We said our prayers, and got some shut-eye.  Speaking of "prayers," this morning I loved starting the Lord's Prayer on Talk Like a Pirate Day:  "Arrrr Father...."
