Return to Me

Here's a snapshot of Madison just after getting off of her bus.  She's always ready to pose nowadays, and Daddy has his cellphone with him a lot now, so there are going to be more pictures here and there. These phone cameras are just so convenient!

Today Madison met her new speech therapist in Alpharetta.  This was after school, the typical trip down to the office to meet for about a half hour.  Daddy and Madison journey down there, and then get stuck in rush hour traffic on the way back.  Today wasn't too bad - it was just bumper to bumper for 90% of 400.  Usually it's worse.

Her speech therapist seems nice, and Madison was quick to give her a hug on the way out the door.  So the two of them get along nicely, although Madison will of course miss Mrs. Courteney.  I can never remember how to spell her name, so apologies for it being a different spelling each time.

Anyway, Madison has to work on some "r" blends over the next two weeks - we'll get on that this weekend.  Here's an "r" blend thats related to Sunday:  The Broncos.  See, that's easy!

Madison finished her homework quickly when we got home, this time answering questions about three levels of government:  local, statewide, and national.  The idea is that they are supposed to be all equal in power, but of course this day and age we know that isn't exactly true.  Of course, that's subjective.  But the homework is just slightly off in some ways that are less subjective, and you sort of have to pay attention here and there.  For example, what's the longest river in the United States?  The homework she's had - twice - said the Mississippi River.  Well, it's not.  It's the Missouri River.  I've known that since middle school.  But for some reason, the Missouri River is discriminated against here!  There are the top five rivers listed in America.  And the Hudson River is one of them, and the Missouri River isn't even in that top five.  What's up with that?  It's the longest river in North America!

Anyway, there have been other things like that which are wrong.  For example, typos with the word "their" and "there," or bad verb agreement.  I should be a proofreader for these homework sheets.  Or, at least somebody should!

Madison raced through her homework regardless, and the reason for that was this:  the High School Musical Concert.  I have no idea why we had this DVD, but there it was.  So we watched a recording of this concert from ten years ago, one where most of the actors went on tour to perform the songs from the movie on stage, and a few of their own songs as well.  I'm sure for some of you, the thought of attending a concert like this would make your skin crawl.  But it was fun, and Madison enjoyed watching it with her obligatory tub of popcorn.  Next up, we have "Jump In" and "Lemonade Mouth" cued up, although these will have to take place after a few more Chinese New Year movies.

Tonight we continued reading "Diary of  Wimpy Kid" at bedtime.  We've been praying for Nana Green, who is in England now, visiting her family.  We've also been praying for Nana Cypher, who is recovering from that surgery.  And, of course, Aunt Shain and her family, Madison's cousins.  There are a lot of people to pray for lately.  It's a rough season.

After Madison went to bed, it was time for an old movie we haven't seen in some time.  It's "Romantic Movie" season, and Mommy and Daddy watched "Return to Me."  This was the movie that was playing on the plane we rode to Hawaii on our honeymoon.  So it has a bit of a significance to it.  And we enjoyed it, particularly the older cast and their bits.  Oh, and James Belushi is pretty funny in it as well.  Anyway, we watched this tonight after Madison was in bed.  It's a sweet movie, although it has some sad stuff in it, which explains why we don't watch it every year.  But it's worth a look.

And that's about it for today.  It's time to star in a new movie - I think we'll call it "Return to Bed!"  Goodnight!
