If there was a service I wanted Madison and Mommy in at KidPak, tonight's service was it. And they were there. Usually, Wednesday nights not so much - because Madison has to get up so early for school. But with the shortened day tomorrow at school, and the thought of getting to sleep in the car on the way down to Florida, we figured it would be a good night to get Madison and Mommy to church. It was a divine appointment.
The worship from all of the kids - Madison included - was so loud and strong! Daddy sends out a letter to the volunteers at KidPak every three days, and here is the one I sent about tonight:
Last night was just 'one of those services.' Let me share just a few quotes from parents:
"My sweet girl Zaria came home saying her life had changed tonight! God had spoken to her! So grateful to God, to you Halston Barrett for all that you do and this church! Praise God!" - Shameka Walker
"I don't known if you were in KP service but Jackson N said "that was the best service EVER! I felt like I was touched by an angel or something!" Loved it!" - Heather Porter Smith
"Abby & Melissa both said kids were crying because God was strong." - Kimberly Ragan
And from Pastor Halston:
"Tonight, I witnessed first hand, kids receiving the Holy Spirit and dreams and vision being birthed inside them, as tears streamed down their cheeks and they all left smelling like anointing oil! Parents, get ready! Jesus is about to use your kids to change their schools, homes, and the world!"
She wasn't exaggerating in the slightest. I will never forget last night's service, and I will never forget those children singing in unity, and with such passion. Our band was amazing, as were Halston and Lance, who recognized that God was moving in that service. Our kids were knocking strongly at His door, and ever faithful, He was there to comfort and to heal.
It is the same God we worship down here at KidPak, the same precious presence and the same miracle-working power. My thoughts on worship at KidPak have always been that it is the most vital thing we do: we can get more of what we really need in just one moment of God's presence than anywhere else.
But we had more than just a moment last night - we had an entire service: the kids simply would not stop worshipping. And so that's what we did, for an hour and fifteen minutes. And their energy never wavered, even at the end when you think they'd be tired. They just kept worshipping!
For those of you who were there, thank you. Thank you for praying with these children and each other. And for those of you who were not there, thank you for your faithful support. On one hand, I'm sorry you missed it. But on the other hand, I know that's just fine... because more is on the way!
That happens from time - we'll have this service planned, and God steps in. Mommy has had an amazingly difficult two weeks, with her stomach problems escalating and blood tests being done. She had some more done today, in fact. But tonight, all the kids and volunteers surrounded her with prayer. It was quite a powerful moment, as Lance and the rest of the team stopped and converged for a few moments of prayer for Mommy. I believe she's healed, actually. There was such a sweet spirit tonight.
The rest of the day was all about work though, as we're leaving tomorrow for our now annual pilgrimage south to Florida. The Magic Kingdom awaits, and today we spent quite a bit of time preparing KidPak, and Mommy preparing the luggage. It's a short trip - we won't be there that long. But it will be quite nice. To quote the English, we'll be going on holiday!
