We woke up this morning late - by design though. It was a decent night's sleep, although a bit chilly outside. For Florida, that's pretty interesting. Our first plan, after the typical getting ready in a Disney hotel room watching various Disney Junior programs, such as Princess Sophia or Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
We suited up though, and headed over to the food court for a pretty big breakfast. It was perfect for all of us, including Mommy. Her food allergy is such that we have to be careful, but here at Disney, Mommy never has to worry so much about it, as the chefs come out to meet her and talk things through to keep her safe.
After a hearty breakfast, we were ready to move on to something bigger and better: SeaWorld's Halloween Spooktacular. We drove across town a bit, and returned to SeaWorld for the third time this year - just to do some trick or treating.
It was great fun for Madison, and Mommy and Daddy too. Madison was dressed up as Ariel, the Little Mermaid, while Daddy was dressed as a giant seahorse.
We had our Shamu Bar right away - tomorrow we'll go for the Mickey bar for a direct comparison. After that, we followed the path around the park, stopping all over for various candy stations to fill our bags. We did a whole lot of trick-or-treating today, the three of us collecting all the candy we could along the path.
But as we did that, we also got to meet all kinds of characters, some of which Madison got to spend time interacting with. For example, there was a school of fish taking lessons from their teacher, and Madison was quite helpful finding missing classmates.
There were stilt walkers, and there were princesses and witches. There was even Shamu dancing the "Macarena." I am not making that one up. Daddy even found a fellow seahorse to horse around with! And yes, there was a mermaid to meet with too. Here's a few mermaids together:
We closed out our SeaWorld experience with a visit with the Count. Yes, THAT Count, the one who likes to count a lot. It was a Sesame Street Countdown to Halloween, and the theater was packed! Madison enjoyed that one, as we sang songs together, including the "Monster Mash." It was a graveyard smash! And it was a fun afternoon...
But it was time for us to leave, especially if we were going to have enough time to get ready for dinner. We drove back to the hotel room, got showers and got changed. No, Daddy did not wear a seahorse costume to dinner.
We then drove our car over to the Wilderness Lodge. We passed by the Magic Kingdom parking lot, where Madison and Daddy had a intense discussion about designing the next Disney Infinity level, basically a parking lot race track, where we race around in parking lot trams. Yes, they have those to drive in the game.
Anyway, we arrived early enough at the Wilderness Lodge to go to Our Nook.
This is capitalized because it is an official place now. On the fourth floor of the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge is a small nook with a fireplace and a couch and two chairs. It overlooks the entire lobby, and is just perfect for relaxing in. It is always empty just for us, as it was today. We got to the Lodge about fifty minutes early, and went up to Our Nook to just rest and enjoy the ambience of the resort. It was perfect. Mommy in fact took a little nap right there by the fireplace. And Daddy and Madison got engaged in telling a made-up story, about cowboys and cowgirls. This one involved Jesse, Tonto, the Lone Ranger, and of course Madison the Cowgirl.
From our vantage point, we could see everyone enter the lobby, and since we knew the rest of our family would be arriving by boat, we watched for them come from that direction.
And so we waved to them all as they marched in the lobby from lakeside. They arrived by boat, as they are staying at Ft. Wilderness. We spent some time catching up in the nook, and soon went down to the Whispering Canyon Cafe to have a really hearty meal. The theme of this restaurant is fun, as the waiters and waitresses joke with patrons, and the most famous question is, "Do you have any ketchup?" Ask that question, and the fun begins. We all know Madison loves ketchup, so this was a great set-up. She asked for ketchup, and soon several other patrons were crossing the restaurant to give her their ketchup bottles. All said, she had about fifteen ketchup bottles in front of her. This is the ongoing joke each night, as soon someone else was asking for ketchup. When that happened, Madison and the rest of us got up from our table to deliver that ketchup, all fifteen bottles or so to one table.
It was a birthday dinner for Daddy, so the restaurant sang "Happy Birthday," and Nana even brought along a gluten-free cake so that Mommy could enjoy some cake as well. But Disney does so well with gluten-free allergies. Mommy never has to worry about that.
We finished up dinner afterwards, and soon were parting ways - for the time being. We'll reunite in the Magic Kingdom. But for now, everyone was on their separate ways. They were going to Downtown Disney, but we were on our way back home. We had a full day already, so we drove back to the hotel room and got into our pajamas. Then, we watched "Wreck-it Ralph" for a while, although none of us made it to the end of the movie: we were zonked!
