So it did rain today, and it rained quite a bit. It started out with a deluge, and that is how it stayed for much of the day. This is a tropical sort of weather, heavy clouds coming in from the Gulf. There were some bigger, more violent storms south of here - a F1 tornado hit Alpharetta - but we were blessed to avoid the more damaging sorts of meteorology.
I did not envy the teachers and volunteers helping kids out of their cars at drop off this morning. It was certainly very challenging weather. The winds and rain were intense, but we had Madison bundled up in her rain jacket, and she just loves to stomp on puddles too.
By piano class, it was still raining. We learned a few new things, but Madison was doing well with the existing material we've been practicing. Mrs. Pam commented on this to her, which made her beam with pride. Also, Madison finished her practices up to 'the squiggly line on the chart,' which means she gets a free prize. And lo, there is now another Monster High item in Madison's collection. We keep going to McDonald's and adding new Monster High items, like barretts, magnets, and now a mini-locker with Monster High activities on tiny sheets of paper.
Tonight - speaking of Monster High - we watched "The Corpse Bride" with Madison. It was her first time seeing this one, and she liked it a lot. She loved the girl characters, Emily and Victoria. Of course. But now that Christmas ornament we have on the tree each year makes a little more sense: it is one of Emily and Victor playing the piano, complete with the music. Madison loves pressing that piano button over and over again at Christmas time, and now she knows the movie it is from. This is one of our favorite seasonal movies, one we have to watch each year. The animation is just amazing to watch. And the soundtrack is great too, although not as beloved as "The Nightmare Before Christmas." Still, it is just a fantastic movie, especially considering all the aristry involved.
Daddy did a bit of work for this weekend, but there were several interruptions. One of which being big news that is coming in December, news that will suddenly fill our calendars quite a bit. Stay tuned for that!
