Abbey Bominable

Okay, first:  brrrr!

No joke:  thirties.  It's expected, but it still a surprise after such recent pleasant weather.  When the sun comes up, the day is nice.  But Jack Frost has been visiting in the morning.  We didn't catch him nipping on anyone's noses though.

Today was the start of our new series.  The set was not completely done though, this due to a bunch of recent setbacks.  But, it is a LEGO theme, which means building and adding on, so over the course of this week we'll have our new set on the stage, and we'll share pictures soon enough.  Including one of the double decker couch.

The service itself was fantastic.  We had some great videos, and of course the skit was just perfect for an introduction to the series.  A few of our main characters disobey a 'commandment' that the Professor sets up, and use an invention they shouldn't.  It brings 'your imagination to life,' which could mean a whole lot of things for next week's skit.  The character that uses the invention is holding a few mini-figures, which we'll hopefully see 'come to life' next weekend's skit.  We had lots of LEGO-themed illustrations, the music was from the LEGO movie, and the booklets looked just right.  We even had LEGO-themed handouts to help kids remember the Ten Commandments.  Madison had a great time this morning!

We got home after helping KidPak Español set things up a bit, and everyone was ready for a little rest.  Daddy didn't have much time though, as he was off to see his old friends up in White County once again.  It was somewhat of a birthday party, but more of a chance just to sit down and talk, and see how everyone is doing.  Some are doing much better, although there are a few parents who are not, as age begins to take a toll.  It was a good time to get together though - although Daddy did miss his family at home.

Madison was busy with piano practice, and "Monster High."  This is her new thing now.  She sees it in stores, with books and toys and props.  The next time we go to the library, she'll want to check out different "Monster High" movies, although she's already watched the two we just rented about three times each.  Thus far, her favorite character is Abbey Bominable, who I think is the Yeti's daughter.

For some reason, they gave her an Eastern European accent.  As opposed to a Himalayan accent.  It doesn't matter though, as it is all about the ice.  There's the connection:  a character like Queen Elsa.  Of course, Abbey has been around a few years longer than Elsa, but now that cold characters are cool, suddenly Abbey has made her way to the top of the most popular students at Monster High.  At least in Madison's notebook.  So, here are a few new entries for our "Halloween-themed Movie List," just a few of the Monster High movies she's been watching lately:  "Ghouls Rule" and "13 Wishes."  This theme will persist throughout October, which is perfect timing really.  In more ways than one.  Obviously because of the monster theme - but talk about timing with this temperature!  Tonight it will drop again, just the perfect type of weather for someone like Abbey.  We could ask her if it is cold enough, and I suspect she would say, "Not yeti."

It was a big day for us, and we're anxious to show off some more from the new start at Kidpak - but we'll save that entry for the next week upcoming.  There'll be some new costumes, and a completed set.  It's going to be - as the movie keeps saying - awesome!
