Mommy did a great job with the LEGO display case this afternoon, using some of the LEGO creations we assembled lately, along with a few other donations from a family here. Everyone will get them back afterwards, but for the next few months, they'll be on display here at the KidPak lobby.
Today, the family spent most of the day here at church, setting things up for tomorrow's service. We were filming, assembling, editing, writing, acting and more. We're talking about the Ten Commandments tomorrow, which is the first of the foundational blocks of our faith that we want to share with the kids. In fact, here's the general description of the message:
Everything is
awesome, but as you’ve probably figured out by now, the world is not
perfect. Sure, God could have used crazy
glue to force us all into obedience, using micro managers to keep us in line.
That’s not the way He
works, is it? He showed us love, and
gave us all a choice – and even some instructions on how to put together an
awesome life.
These were the Ten Commandments, the greatest
top ten ever assembled, one put together by God himself! These were a set of blueprints that we could
build our lives around, simple instructions on how to live a safe and happy
life.
In the book of Exodus, Moses brought
them down from Mt. Sinai, one commandment stacked upon the
other. They joined up to create a solid set of rules set in place to
protect you, and keep everything awesome! These aren't set up by
some strict tyrant trying to glue your lives in place - they're created by a
loving God, the ultimate Master Builder who has a plan and a future for you.
So take a look at some of life's
greatest instructions, the Ten Commandments. They're one of the
foundational blocks of our faith. They're important to read and
study, but even more important to follow. They're ten simple rules
that so much has been built upon. Join us as we take a closer look
at the Ten Commandments!
We'll have a LEGO-themed skit tomorrow, one where a character disobeys the rules (the ones set up to protect him), and sets up a cliffhanger. He shouldn't have touched that invention, and now the LEGO mini-figures in his pocket have come to life! Of course, we won't see the full-sized LEGO mini-figures until next week, but that's what the costume hunt was all about this past week: part of our cast will be giant LEGO mini-figures.
We also shot some videos, including one where Daddy disobeys the rules set in place to protect him - and winds up getting zapped by touching an electric fence.
So it was a lot of work for the whole family today. Madison helped assemble LEGO items, and spent a lot of time playing with her friend Matthew. Matthew's dad is working on the set, and it looks like it will be a late night there. But we'll be getting some sleep early, as Daddy is still recovering somewhat from last night's illness.
Tomorrow, we're all about the Ten Commandments though! Here below is the handout we made up, one that gives you an easy way to memorize all ten. This is how Daddy knows them - it seems silly, but it works!
