This morning we returned to the Three Wolf Moon skit, which went really well at KidPak. Of course there was a Biblical point to it all, but it also gave us a chance to bring out the famous three wolf moon shirt that I bought a several years ago. It was in response to the craze on Amazon's online marketplace where people were writing all kinds of glowing reviews about this shirt, boasting of its supernatural power. Anyway, the skit was super fun, and given that I made it a mad-lib, there was all kinds of extra laughs along the way. You never know what words kids will come up with that the actors have to act out on stage, and so when asking for an adjective from one student and then a noun from another, we completely didn't expect to use this phrase in the story: "telekinetic diarrhea." Ahem... moving on...
The big news of the day was greater than three wolves, if that can be believed. This morning, we learned that our friend Camille is officially engaged to be married, and in fact will be married in a few months' time! It was pretty stunning news. Friday, I joked with Camille about her boyfriend's destination for a date that night saying, "That's where you two first went, and I bet he's going to propose to you there." And in fact, he did! We're all pretty excited for her, of course. She's going to have a super busy summer, no doubt!
We got home from church, and afterwards, we had a nice meal set up, and we were also out doing some work in the garden. Task #1 was getting that fairy village out there, and all our gnomes too. Yes, the gnome garden is officially back, and the fairy garden is in place, including a few new structures. We'll post pictures of that soon enough, but one item Maddie picked up yesterday was a Turnip House, which is smaller than the others, but there's something about this house that caught all our eyes. Yes, of course we want a Turnip House!
Tonight we sat down to watch "Alice Through the Looking Glass." These are really fun movies, and it was fantastic to see all the characters back again. We like the addition of the character "Time," who added a good bit of weird comedy to the whole thing, and although the story is a bit different, it's still a fun ride through Underland.
We read tonight and we prayed afterwards. This is the week of Summer Xtreme Nights, and there's still plenty to do there.
