We made a quick drive by to get some groceries, but went a bit further to a different grocery store in order to pick up these glasses of Clearly Canadian. It is literally drinking in nostalgia! These glasses - in this earlier format - were everywhere at gas stations and grocery stores in the nineties, and I can't tell you the amount of these I consumed. We picked up four glasses today, and they were a bit pricy, but today is in fact Canada Day, and we had to have something to celebrate with. I had my Blue Jays hat on today too, so I think we got a little Canada in, eh? The drinks were good, by the way. I've got a few more saved up in the refrigerator for later on.
Today we were over at the Edges again, but not for any scheduled taekwondo practice. In fact, we were there to bring lunch. We took care of our friends, getting together with Bart and Chris after the loss of Bart's mother. It's been great to see people bringing food by all week and showing some love. We went to Panera Bread and got a few things, including a BEAR CLAW. Yes, Madison had her first bear claw today, and that's a big moment there too.
We had a great time just doing lunch together, and mind you, this was during their camp they do each week, so they had kids there. The kids were watching a movie during one break, and we got to sit and talk for a while, which was nice. But with twelve minutes to go until they got back to the camp with the kids, Josh asked one question of Bart and Chris: "Can we try swinging on that rope?"
It was so funny watching everyone swing around on a rope, or climb it on up to the ceiling. When I got home, I made a recording of some of the later jumps, which you can see above, set to music.
I was proud of Madison - she was hesitant about it, but she ran right up there, just like the others, and soon enough, she was swinging up high too!
But we weren't done yet! No, we decided to all stick around, and join the kids for the remaining hours of the camp. We played a form of kickball together, and after that, we all did some snowball dodgeball! With the dodgeball game, it was all the kids - a lot of them - versus about five of us, the grown-ups. Everyone had a great time!
We did have to get home though. The rain was all over again, and Mommy spent a good deal of time planting some of our new plants around the trees in the front yard, and along the side. She did some edging too, and it looks really good!
One bonus was a neighbor giving us some pea plants, and squash too. I believe there might even be zucchini in there as well. We have several of these potted plants to put in tomorrow to add to our garden, and that will be nice. Already, the tomato plants are pretty ginormous!
Madison had her Zoom meeting tonight with Camille, and was enjoying that, and after a nice bath, Mommy was working again on Ancestry. Madison and I were playing the LEGO Avengers game again, just because we seem to be hooked on all things Marvel once more. And speaking of which, tonight we saw a super depressing episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." as well, one that has a rather bleak ending for the team. We have to hope fortunes improve next week, because this week was a real bummer!
Anyway, it was a good day. Canada Day, eh. We read tonight, and we prayed. And we got some rest. It was a good day, and tomorrow will be a good day as well. We might even go out and get some more bear claws!
