Palm Sunday 2020

Today is Palm Sunday, and it's certainly the most unusual Palm Sunday we've had in some time.  It marks the fourth service in a row that we have not been to at Free Chapel, although we did watch the service this morning, joining with many others.  We celebrated as a church, though not at church.  We saw our main sanctuary service, and then after that, it was time to watch the KidPak service.

This one was good, as Madison got to be a part of it.  As you might remember from this blog, she was filming earlier at the North Campus, doing the "human bowling" thing.

This was the game segment of our service, and it was a lot of fun to watch.  It was fun to do, too.  But Josh did a fantastic job editing it as well.  The rest of the service was made up of previously used KPTV videos as well as a word from each of our children's pastors in Spartanburg, Gwinnett and even Orange County.  It's been great to see all our children's pastors involved with these videos, and it was nice to watch them this morning on our television. We've had a great time at church!

Here's Madison watching this morning, and she's watching with a few gifts from Camille, some plush lambs that she's gotten over the years.  Listening to Pastor Franklin's message, we heard about having the Lamb in the house, and we've got two!  Of course, he was talking about having Jesus in the house.    It was a good morning at church.

So we finally finished the Hailfire droid after church, and this one took quite a bit of time to put together.  It has 681 pieces!

It's pretty amazing though, actually rolling along on those working wheels.  And it's large too.  This one took a lot of patience and time, and teamwork too.  Daddy and Madison were taking turns on this one, and helping each other see it through.

Sadly, this is the last of the LEGO Star Wars collection that we have.  They've been sitting in my basement waiting for all these years, and it's been a real joy to see them being put to good use.  Madison really enjoyed assembling these.  I know they could have been sold for a lot of money still in the boxes (this one here was just seen online for over $285, if you can believe that!).  But it was worth it seeing her so engaged, and of course being a Star Wars project, she's very much into it.

Today Daddy went over to the grocery store.  And normally that's a pretty boring sort of event.  But Daddy was dressed in protective gear:

Social Kombat II.  This is Noob Saibot going grocery shopping.  A friend suggested dressing up something like this to go look for organic berries, which was a hilarious thought.  But not far off.  Daddy was grocery shopping with a mask on and gloves, which seems so weird.  But that's where we're at right now.

I did have a lot of success shopping, but I did note that Aldi's had customers wearing masks and gloves, whereas Publix had very few people wearing gloves or masks.  I'm not sure what this means in regards to customers, but there's my statistic for the day.  I went to Publix to get one thing:  Lucky Charms.  Mommy has recently grown attached to those Lucky Charms, and being gluten-free, that's a nice little treat for her.  Aldi's had everything else I needed, included those prized eggs.  We got two dozen, and with Easter coming up soon, I think you know what we'll be doing with those!  Daddy got home after wiping everything off and changing clothes immediately and excessively washing hands.  It's such an odd routine, expecting the worst in some ways.  But you can never be too careful.

Tonight we watched "Thor," the first movie, and I was reminded how good that movie was.  I honestly think it is my favorite of the three, which is not the most popular opinion, of course.  But we enjoyed the movie together, and yes, it seems like we're on a path to watch all these Marvel movies now!

We also continued reading tonight, and we said our prayers as well.  It was a nice day, a memorable Palm Sunday.  This week is supposed to be bad for our nation, a plague literally passing over us as we celebrate Passover... what are the odds of that?  We prayed for our family, for safety of other families as this terrible virus passes over.  We're praying for our nation.
