The Online Adventure Continues

Schoolwork dominated the day for Madison, as she's doing a lot of different things in different directions, from photography with pets (or stuffed animals) to statistics to reading the book, "The Outsiders."  She's been practicing her piano too, and just working hard online all day.

Daddy was doing something different - you can see us at the church here, socially distant, as we film our next week of KidPak.

Today it was decided that we'd start advertising more for it, and it was funny seeing a lot of folks come around to the fact that we've been doing something big for the kids all these years.  The standard reaction is "we had no idea you did all this," and that's just when we have guests or parents come down to visit us at the children's ministry.  Now because of this pandemic, this basic reaction is more widespread.  We have so many new people online visiting us, all of them saying at the same time, "we had no idea you did all this."  Anyway, it was an interesting day, because people who know more about this sort of thing than I do have decided that this material should be advertised a bit more.  We'll see how things go from here with that, but it's been fun making our online series.  We finished with our one-month series, "Faith Over Fear," this past weekend, and we honestly thought that it was possible we'd be going back to physical church soon.  But instead, we're planning another online series, basically revisiting the "Miracles" series from last year.  We'll do that one for about three weeks, and see where to go from there.  We're feeling slightly optimistic, hoping we won't have to do another strictly online series.  But even if go back to all being physically in a building together again, the idea is that we keep this online material going.  Here we go!

Daddy got home after several meetings, and got home just in time for some more taekwondo practice.    Madison and the other students are still moving forward too, and working online towards that second stripe.  It is entirely possible that this belt is acquired from doing things strictly from home, which is certainly a first for Madison.  I've never heard of an entirely online course for any martial arts class, but here we are anyway.  There are plenty of other online courses available, by the way.  We were just noticing one for Irish dancing that will be on tomorrow, taught by a dancer from Orlando.  Harvard even has free online classes, as well as an Imagineering class that Madison and Daddy were doing earlier.

Tonight we finished the greatest Star Wars trilogy of all, remembering how good these movies are (and how they're so much better than the others).  "Return of the Jedi" was on our big screen tonight, which means we start with "The Force Awakens" tomorrow night, presumably.  We said our prayers tonight and read some more from our books and devotional.  We're almost done with both:  the devotional has been fun, this one themed to Napoleon Dynamite.  Tonight's entry had to do with Napoleon taming that wild honeymoon stallion as a wedding gift.  Yes, it's a fun devotional.  And of course the "Thrawn" book is nearly complete too.  This was a long one, but the girls are into it, and in fact wanting to watch old episodes of "Thrawn" again.

It's been a quiet day.  Daddy got to be inside the church again, filming this fast-paced scavenger hunt throughout this massive empty church.  It was surreal, of course.  Not many of us are going in there right now, and when we do, it's such an odd experience, given the way things are now.  Such a full building at times with so many people together, and now empty for all this time.  And that's the way it is all across this country and a good part of the world.  Tonight we prayed for a return, and that special day when we can all say:

I rejoiced with those who said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
-Psalm 122:1 NIV
