It is Good Friday today, and despite the fact that we can't physically be in church, we were still remembering the day together. We had our Communion set out once again, sharing a moment at an online service at noon with our pastor, joining all the others in our congregation. No doubt people all over the world were doing the same thing today, seated in the sanctuary known as our living room, on the pew known as our couch. For so long it's been said that church is not something that takes place a few times a week in a specialized building, but rather a relationship that you have wherever you go, and inside your home. It's now more real than ever. We're here at the most sacred of weekends for the church, the moment where we remember all that Jesus did for us. As such, there's been plenty of worship and church broadcasting online to watch. We tried to watch one passion play in particular, and got a good ways into it, only to have it shut down: there were too many people trying to watch the same thing. We'll attempt it again tomorrow - it was looking very well done.
We did get out for a bit today, out for grocery shopping and for a photo op with the Easter bunny. Since I got the Easter bunny costume yesterday, I was able to sneak down to Pastor Lance's house and visit with his children - they were delighted! On the way home, I stopped by the post office, and then to the grocery store to get some eggs and milk too, and then pretty much made a straight line for home. Not much interaction these days. Even while out, I was wearing the mask and gloves, and then washing vigorously when I got home.
It was a Good Friday for us. Madison was doing her piano practice, and she's sounding really good on her recital piece, amongst other things. We had some ice cream afterwards, because we have ice cream and we can't let that go to waste, right?
Mommy prepared the most amazing dinner tonight, a chicken Marsalis and twice-baked potatoes with a salad on the side - a truly masterful entree! This was one of the top ten best meals I think I've ever eaten. Madison is not huge on variety, and it is a bit risky. So she had chicken nuggets, along with the usual arsenal of hot sauce, a fire swamp of spicy sauces on her plate.
Tonight we were back watching our Star Wars marathon, this after the failed attempt with the passion play. We watched "Rogue One" this evening, and what a great movie that one is. That was the last really good Star Wars movie - it had so much in it!
We read tonight and we said our prayers for healing and protection. There are storms due to come in this weekend that sound ominous. And this is the peak week of the virus, from many accounts. But as they say, "Good Friday happened, but Sunday is on it's way." Meaning, hope is coming, there's a light at the end of the tunnel, and Jesus has risen.
