Squarecrows

Madison went to Florida for the weekend and was back without missing a day of school.  Mommy is back with us, and there's a lot of catching up to do, and a bit of cleaning up to do, although we managed to keep the house in good order while she was gone.

Tonight, Daddy and Mommy went with Madison to piano class, although they stayed in the car.  The reason was so that we could go together to the Gainesville Square, where we saw a few interesting scarecrows that were created by local businesses, churches, and organizations.

Here's Madison and Mommy in front of a framed scarecrow.  It was a nice walk, and a short one where we just took a stroll around the square.  Interestingly, there was a city worker already putting up Christmas lights, which you can see in a few of these pictures below.

I am Groot!  This was our favorite scarecrow by far, or as they like to call it, a "Scarecrow."  This was a clever idea, and yes, there's a small Rocket Raccoon down below, and a baby Groot as well.  Six years ago, this would have made no sense to many people.

Ah, this is a more traditional scarecrow, one seated on a rocking chair.  Behind it is an undead chicken, which is something you need to beware of here in Gainesville.  Undead chickens are not to be messed with.

Madison is posed here with several more seated scarecrows behind her, all relaxing amidst the Christmas lights, the Confederate statue, and the very pleasant evening weather.  It was a nice day, actually, much cooler than recent overheated days we were longing to escape from.

Ah, minions.  They never get old.  And to Madison, these photo ops below are the kind that never get old either.  You know the ones, the kind with places to put your head through?

She's been putting her head through these for years now.  Mommy joined her for a fun little photo opportunity.  There were a lot more scarecrows than we expected here, and it was a nice little walk today.  Look at this one in a canoe!

And these below, well these are literally square crows.

Or, at least they're cube crows.  From a certain angle they're square crows.  Either way, we liked the design of these.  All of these are part of a competition, where people like us can vote for our favorites online.

Madison imitates a jack-in-the-box scarecrow, one with a demented smile.  We like the tie, although the gloves are a bit much.  I guess it's a seasonal thing.

Here's Dorothy, always a welcome theme.  Dorothy is here to remind us all that there's no place like home.  You can see a few other scarecrows behind her - as many as we're posting here on this blog, there were a few more as well.  The Gainesville Square is covered in scarecrows.

Ah, here are the crows once more as a last picture.  This was a pleasant, quick, and fun seasonal visit that we'll probably do again next year.  It was very nice to go out and see the scarecrows, and not too far away from us.  It's only a couple blocks from Madison's piano practice.

We got home and ate, did some homework (a paper on Lebanon is being worked on currently), and we read, and prayed for Ba-Ba.  Mommy is worried, as are all of us.  We'll keep praying, and really those prayers are for the whole family.
