Spooky Gingerbread House 2019

Here it is, this year's edition of the Spooky Gingerbread House, designed by Daddy and Madison over the course of this evening.  Daddy spent a little bit of time setting up the framework, and after piano class tonight, we got decorating, all while watching the first "Ghostbusters" movie.  Madison has decided that this is her favorite October-themed song, "Ghostbusters."  That being said, I'm sure we'll watch the second movie some time soon.  This side you see above is largely Madison's side - the deal is that she does one side, and Daddy works on the other.  She did a great job with it!  Here's Daddy's side below:

This is a nice tradition we do, and for the evening, we had Mommy, Nana and Ba-Ba joining us on the computer to watch as we decorated the gingerbread house.  They took a small break, and we called back a little later to show the finished product, to much applause.  It's a fun little tradition we have, and we timed it out well, finishing about the same time the movie did.

Today was a busy day for Daddy, doing car work, grocery shopping, doing laundry at home, and lots of clean-up work.  Madison was at school studying biomes in science, irrational numbers, and getting started in one class - she's grateful that embarrassing Health class is over with.  This new class has something to do with inventions and engineering, so we'll just have to wait and see about that.  School was good though, but the bus was extremely late, and things were tight getting to piano class. We were a little late for that.  Daddy ordered some trays a few years ago, ones you can put plates on and eat while watching television - they are themed to the movie "Frozen."  Anyway, we got good use out of one of those, as Daddy plopped Madison in the back seat of the car, and put one of those over her lap, and on top of that a plate full of hot pizza so she could eat in the car as we raced towards class.  It was a fun moment... maybe... almost as fun as doing grocery shopping all by myself.

Meanwhile in Florida, Mommy is doing quite a bit to keep morale up.  The good news is that Ba-Ba has gained a pound and a half.  This is due to some effort from Mommy, keeping routines in place and also making attractive meal choices that can be eaten.  But the soreness in the esophagus is starting to set in, and that may mean the end of eating with his mouth for a time.  We'll just have to wait and see.  Mommy's brother Uncle George will be there tomorrow for a visit, and that will be a warm family reunion, with brother, sister, and parents all together again.  Things aren't in the best of conditions right now, but they have each other and are together.  Daddy and Madison will get to see everyone and Uncle George too, and hopefully soon.  Week Two started out with chemotherapy and radiation for Ba-Ba, familiar territory for Mommy.  Four more chemotherapy sessions to go after this one, and hopefully that will do some damage to this cancer.

We all prayed together tonight, as usual, using the computer.  And we read together too, and of course there were the virtual zerberts (which would be a great rock band name:  The Virtual Zerberts").  Afterwards, it was time for an early night, and a good night's rest.
