King's Stilts

Daddy finished the Dr. Seuss devotional with one last entry, this one based on an early book about a king and his stilts.  Surprisingly, these are the same sort of stilts that Josh and I used to roam around the KidPak office on.  It was great to see another character having so much fun with them.  In any event, here's the last entry:

“All of you must obey those who rule over you. There are no authorities except the ones God has chosen. Those who now rule have been chosen by God.” Romans 13:1 NIRV

There was a good king long ago in the land
He worked hard, helping all under his command
His days were so long, and when working was done
This king grabbed some stilts, and then he had some fun!
Now work is important, but also is rest.
That’s in God’s Top Ten, and it’s not a request
But rotten Lord Droon got upset when he eyed
the king using stilts – why, that’s undignified!
So he hid the king’s stilts,  also the king’s friend,
and that nearly brought the kingdom to its end!
For the king’s work had suffered, and he lost his will
and the kingdom saw all of this danger until
a friend found those old stilts, and came back to play,
so now all are safe, as they are to this day!
The point is that leaders are people like you:
Your teachers and parents, and presidents too.
You must be so careful, when you choose to judge
A person in charge with whom you bear a grudge.
God’s Word says He put them there.  That is not odd!
When you honor your leaders, you’re honoring God.
Pray for them no matter where their leaning tilts,
and lift up our leaders, and not just on stilts!

The neat thing about this devotional is that each day is a poem (even if in some cases the original Dr. Seuss story is not a poem).  So yes, there are twenty-eight different entries, each one dedicated to a different book or story from Dr. Seuss.  In one case, it's not based on a book, but rather the actual story of Dr. Seuss in his attempt to get his first book published.  Anyway, it's been a process and I'm happy to say it's done now.

Also done:  the Star Wars tree.  We have two trees up now, although I'll have to post a picture of that one later because Mommy and Daddy have snuck out and gotten Madison a new ornament for that tree.  When decorating it, Daddy left a nice little spot there in the middle to hang up the ornament, so it'll look nice when she gets it.

Also up are several Thanksgiving decorations, as that is sneaking up on us, isn't it?  Mommy has been picking up dinner items here and there, but we do need to get out and get that turkey soon.  Mommy waits until around a week before, but this year we may need a bigger turkey, as we may have more visitors.

Madison had her math test today, a summative test that she studied a lot for, and she thinks she did pretty well on it.  Also today was taekwondo, which is going well.  Madison just looks a lot different on the mat than she did to begin with, so full of confidence and energy.  She yells out things along with the others, and does the whole drill with lots of enthusiasm.  It's great to see.

We dropped by to see Aunt Elaine one more time on the way back home, staying with them a few hours at Nana and Ye-Ye's house.  It was nice seeing Nana and Madison playing piano together, and the whole family sitting around in different places, just talking.  Daddy was catching up with Aunt Elaine, and we were all just hanging out for about an hour or so until it was time to get Madison back home for a rest.

We hid, read, prayed, and gave zerberts, and then it was time for sleep.  It's been cold this week, but those covers are nice and warm, and difficult to get out from underneath!
