Four Realms

Our video-game theme continued at KidPak, and today's service was one we were somewhat waiting for:  a Street Fighter themed one!  You can see Madison above, our resident mini-Chun Li from the puzzle fighter game.  Wreck-it Ralph made the mistake this morning of thinking he could earn another medal by beating a few of the Street Fighter World Warriors.  Madison here represents ROUND ONE!

This didn't go so well for Ralph...

It was a fun morning and a beautiful day, and although things were at peak season as far as leaf colors go, we were somewhat tired, and not really up to a nice drive up into the mountains.  Sunday mornings take a lot out of you!  We got home and ate a nice lunch together, and made the decision, all three of us, to go and do something "Christmasy."  This is why we went to see the latest Disney movie loosely based on "The Nutcracker."

And oh yes, I really mean loosely.  There are many plot points that I can't discuss here for fear of spoiling the movie, but there were two major decisions with the writing of this movie that sort of had us scratching our heads.  The movie was beautiful, however, and very much in the spirit of "Alice in Wonderland," with somewhat of a Christmas twist.  We enjoyed it, but it feels like there could have been a little more respect for the integrity of the original material.

Anyway, we enjoyed an afternoon at the movies.  We had our big bucket of popcorn and our usual seats in the theater.  As as an aside, the trailers and commercials playing before this movie were a little preachy and a little less about their actual products, and therefore make me less likely to buy your products.

Moving on, we drove home after that and wound down for the evening.  In the spirit of things, Madison and Daddy played on the Street Fighter cabinet downstairs.  Madison was Chun Li, of course, and she was doing well.  She was just starting to figure out the spinning bird kick, and maybe a combo or two.  We raced through a bunch of characters until it was time to go upstairs for a bit.

We're reading Daddy's devotional about Thanksgiving now, and it's been a very pleasant read.  We're also reading "Peter and the Starcatchers," and as I suspected, Mommy and Madison are really liking it.  We said our prayers tonight, and were thankful for one thing:  the feeling like we're sleeping in tomorrow.  It's darker earlier, but that also means it feels like we're sleeping in on that first day.  What a nice feeling that is!  It's time to go see what that's like...
