Bait and Barbecue

We were on our way back home for a break today, and decided to stop here, above:  Sherry's Bait and Barbecue.  This was actually a pretty great place to have a lunch together - the name "Bait and Barbecue" might turn a person off.  I mean, you'd hate to see what would happen if the two were confused, right?  But it turns out the meals were really good, and the barbecue was delicious.  I think Madison would actually enjoy this place a lot.  In fact, there was a guy who came here today, parking an unusual vehicle in the parking lot:  a helicopter.  He flew in to enjoy some bait or barbecue, or both.

We were on our way home to get one of those dancing hula Santa figures.  Mommy and Daddy have had one for years, and with this year's production of "Christmas in Color" for the main sanctuary, it will have a slightly bigger role on the big screen.  Pastor Lance and Josh were filming today, along with Daddy there, who played a part in the writing of all of this.  It's a fun little series of videos that help break up the live on-stage productions, and also hopefully tie all the campuses together a bit more so.

It was good to see Mommy at lunchtime.  We all took our barbecue there to eat, and sat around the dining room, conversing.  As you can see above, there's a third person there - that's Shelly, the children's pastor of our KidPak in Orange County, California.  She's here for the week, and we were working together on the new Dr. Seuss series, amongst other things.  We had a few meetings today, also getting together about a new series that Daddy is excited about in July - I've been sitting on this one for a while now, so I'm pretty excited about doing it here at KidPak.

Anyway, we had a good day today there, while Madison was having fun at school.  The dodge ball tournament continued, as did the reign of the Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies.  They didn't win, but they had a great time playing, and watching the winning team promptly lose to the team of teachers, who in Madison's opinion, "cheated a whole lot!"

Still it was fun.  When Daddy got home, there were plenty of Thanksgiving decorations up, including our salt shakers and some new garden flags.  Mommy is getting things ready for the big day, and we're pretty excited about it.  Tonight we watched "Miracle on 34th Street," which starts out on Thanksgiving Day, of course.  These are such classic movies, and we love to watch them each year.

So we finally have a governor elect, as things got certified today.  Speaking of "certified," the losing candidate graciously refused to concede, spreading disunity and discontent with accusations of fraud and so forth.  This is such a different generation isn't it?  This behavior is revealing, and so self-focused.  But also... this person is not governor.  So there's something to be thankful for there, I suppose.

We were reading tonight, and saying our prayers.  It's been a good week, and suddenly here we are at Thanksgiving break for Madison.  It's going to be a wonderful time.
