One More High Flyer

Madison had a few surprises today, a few achievements of note!  Where to begin?

Let's start with the black belt.  No, not a black belt in karate, but something even bigger.  Yes, friends, Madison has earned her mystical black belt on the recorder!  Her music teacher had just enough time to test about ten kids, and out of the ten, seven earned their black bands for their recorder, one of them being Madison.  It's kind of a big deal.  Now we can hear "Three Blind Mice" over and over again from a true black belt in recorder!

Another achievement today:  High Flyer.  For those of you keeping score at home, she's earned one of these per year, each time in some differing area.  This year is different, because she's already earned one back in October.  So now she's getting two in one year!  How did this happen?  We think it all has to do with the category:  Live to Give.  Basically, there are only two people in the Live to Give club in Madison's classroom, therefore when the High Flyer Award for "Live to Give" came up, it had to go to those two, one of them being Madison.  So yeah, she'll be one of those kids that has seven "High Flyer" awards by the time her years at Chestatee are over with.  The award ceremony is the week after spring break, and we'll probably be going to that one too.

Today was the Book Fair, and Madison used her money she got from Nana and Ye-Ye to get two books, one of them being "A Wrinkle in Time."  The other was somewhat of a surprise, "Bears of the Ice."  It looks interesting, so we'll have to wait and see on that.  In any event, it was a good trip to the Book Fair for her, and she's earned these books and more with some great tests recently.  She got an A on her literature test and a 100 on her math test as well.

Mommy had her return visit to the oncologist today, and although a longer visit, it went as to be expected.  Results are coming in later, but everything presently seems routine, which of course is good.  It's been over ten years now.  Just a little over ten years ago, she had the reversal surgery where her intestinal track was reattached, and of course ever since then she's been clear of cancer.  It's been worth celebrating.

Daddy was pretty sick today though, and being stuck at the office with a rising fever did not help things at all.  We got a little bit done, but Daddy isolated himself behind closed doors and hoped for the best.  Only medication could help, and as soon as he got home, he had some, and pretty quickly fell asleep after bedtime stories and prayer.  It's going to be a busy week, followed by more activity next weekend, so rest is the best thing right now.
