The Newsies were back this morning for another skit, and I really loved this one. They did a fantastic job, as did the adults in the skit of course. Our ongoing story is a short and easy one, but it's filled with references to "Newsies" and it's also got a lot of laughs along the way as well.
One of our cast members was back from spring break, Sklyar, so I had all the younger cast members posing again on stage with their papes and their satchels, just because it's so great to see this look on everyone.
It was a good morning overall. We've had some fun games too - last week we had an invention that would show on the screen what a future headline would say about you. This week, kids were tossing newspapers like a paperboy. Speaking of which, I was never good at that old Paperboy video game. Never.
We got home today, this after some more prep for a few filming sessions. Mom has been back to sewing and preparing again, cutting out and creating robes for the Roman soldiers. Tomorrow we'll probably be back to Atlanta for more dancing costume material, but today was all about John the Baptist and Jesus walking on water. It started out cold today, and there was actually a layer of ice on the bird bath this morning. So baptizing didn't seem like a fun thing to do today!
When home, we were eating and resting - and watching "The Ten Commandments." That's a tradition this time of year. Mom was keeping busy with her costume prep while occasionally watching the movie with Nana and I. The idea is to keep Nana busy while Mom gets some things done. That's been the plan the last week or two, as it's difficult to get things done with her around.
I brought palms home, because it was Palm Sunday. Maddie and I didn't even need the guide on how to fold palm crosses - we just grabbed a bunch, and sort of like an assembly line, the two of us started creating all these palm crosses. This is one of those things that I started at KidPak a long time ago, this due to my Catholic upbringing. Now it's just about expected, bags and bags of palms at not only our campus but all the others, along with those "how to fold a palm cross" sheets I've made up.
It was a decent day today. Maddie's been working on her story, a homework assignment she had over spring break. I think she said the minimum amount of pages for it was two, but she's written probably six times that by this point. She likes to write!
Another night, another two episodes of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." knocked out. We're still in space, but this episode has a great ending to it with Fitz to the rescue. The opossums are munching on the back deck, and all day long the birds have been dropping by. We've got pine warblers and of course our bluebirds. But a blue jay was up on the deck today, and lately there's been a robin looking for worms. The usual sparrows, chickadees and nuthatches are there too, the chickadees going after some dryer lint that Mom left out or them to create some nesting material with.
We've had to take the hummingbird feeder in, because ants have discovered it too. We might need a new feeder, one with a moat that helps stop that sort of thing.
Tonight we read from Kingdom Keepers again, a small adventure inside a Tower of Terror as Mulan, Kristoff, Flynn, Dash, Dillard and Nick all try to rescue Maddie. I'm not sure it's working out, but the story is pulling us along. I believe tomorrow night we'll be back with the original Kingdom Keepers again in their next chapter.
We said our prayers tonight, and were off to sleep. Or at least most of us: Mom is up late, late, and later, sewing, sewing, sewing...
