Segmentata

Phil Coulson in space.  This show can be so bonkers with storylines, but I love it so much.  We all do.  Maddie and Mom and I - and Nana too - were watching the latest episodes where all the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were trying to escape the dystopian future in space, attempting to fix the future and in doing so take heed about warnings of things that could affect the present.  It's a great show, with Inhumans, traitors, Ghost Rider, space, time travel, virtual worlds, an awesome semi-truck, and of course Lola.

This morning we were at the local urgent care to take care of Nana's bite, which is really bothering her.  We got in with a doctor who gave her some antibiotics, and then also a tetanus shot, which of course makes things even more sore on her arm.  She'll have a rough week with that arm, but it will get better.  One thing is certain, that cat is no longer welcome here.  We're not going to be terribly mean, but a squirt gun is a nice way of reminding him that he just can't be here anymore, not if he's going to threaten to bite Nana or others.

Maddie had taekwondo tonight - we made that.  I was with Nana grocery shopping, and Mom was busy sewing.  We're super busy with preparations for the Easter production now, really in the thick of it.  One difficulty has been the Roman costumes, particularly the segmentata, which is a new word I've learned lately.  It's the armor that protects the abdomen and shoulders, these segments of metal that join together, hence the term segmentata.  These pieces are rather pricy, and arriving from overseas.  We've had delays and the end result is a lack of trust that they'll even arrive in time, so we've ordered more segmentata.  We'll wind up with about ten segmentata before it's all said and done, enough segmentata for a small Roman squad of soldiers.  The helmets, aprons, gauntlets and shoes are all good, and Mom is sewing the tunics this week too.  We'll have four Romans on foot, and two on horseback too, so we have to make sure we make the riders' armor easier to wear.

I was writing our second Newsies script today, and it's a delight to see the younger KidPak actors doing so well with this one.  Tonight after watching our episodes together, taking a break to watch television, we read from Kingdom Keepers once more.  It's a busy season, but we're making it, and every thing we get done is one step closer and one more burden removed.  Soon Easter will be here and it will be over with and we'll be back to normal again.  Until then, we're praying for a good production and doing our best, and hopefully tonight getting some good rest.
