Thrasher

Check out this thrasher that landed on our feeder this afternoon!  This is Georgia's state bird, and I'm not sure why the garden clubs of Georgia chose this over all the other birds to choose from for a state bird.  It's not exactly the most beautiful bird, and it's super aggressive, swooping in and driving everyone else away.  We've only seen it this once, and I suppose it would be great for a sports mascot - which in fact, it was.  Some time ago we went to see a Thrashers ice hockey game in Atlanta.  Anyway, here it is, the state bird of Georgia, ready to swoop in and attack you and all your children!

You have to admit the name is pretty cool.  Santa has a reindeer named Thrasher, actually.  Also, isn't a thrasher a skateboarder?  There's all kinds of cool in this bird's name, so I suppose I've just come full circle on its choice as state bird.  Although it's not the most attractive bird - beautiful plumage! - I still endorse it as state bird.  So there.

Maddie had another FCY tonight, as she typically does on Wednesday nights.  It's a new series called "New Level," something new for April that Maddie enjoyed tonight.  I got there afterwards, watching her get involved in a game called "Four Square," which she's actually really good at.  She's got very fast reflexes, and she's closer to the ground.  The end result is that she's a very good player.  She enjoys the game a lot, talking about it all the way home.

We're busy with Easter prep, which is largely costuming issues at this point, although there are plenty of other details coming together as this is being typed.  It's shaping up to be something really well done though, and something original, which is to say the script does not come from somewhere else.  It's sort of a mishmash of ideas from a lot of different chefs, myself included.

Our neighborhood cat is no longer welcome at our house.  He would come by for a snack from time to time, but today he decided to bite and scratch Nana, and it was bad.  We will have to keep an eye on things, but we may be taking her to urgent care soon for antibiotics.  This cat literally bit the hand that fed him, and now the consequences are squirt guns at the door that encourage him to go on to another house.

We watched the second "Moon Knight" episode tonight, and it is an intriguing show, really pulling the viewer into the overall mystery.  There are so many questions, and we'll keep watching to see what happens next.  There was a QR code in this episode, right there on a door of a storage place, so we thought we'd hit the pause button and scan it... and sure enough, it led to a free online "Moon Knight" comic.  Moon Knight has never been one of my favorites - he's pretty obscure to me, although I know who he is.  Still, it's an interesting show.

The Kingdom Keepers continued their adventures tonight, and there's been a bit of grave robbing going on lately, which is rather morbid.  We'll keep reading though to see what the villains are digging up, and why. I think this is somewhat of an origin story for the Overtakers, along with an elaborate backstory involving a disenchanted Disney worker named Amery Hollingsworth.  He's the father of the Overtakers, essentially, and going back in time the Kingdom Keepers are seeing how things played out.

After prayer, we were all asleep pretty quick.  Things are super busy around here.
