Possums in the Daylight

Possums in the daylight?  Yes, sure it happens, and it's not as uncommon as I originally thought.  My first assumption was some sort of disease, but it could be all the rain we got displacing them temporarily from their homes, or perhaps some other disturbance.  Another variable I discovered was colder temperature, and although it wasn't brutally cold this morning, the weather has been chillier as of late.  So we were surprised to see a pair of possums on our back deck this morning, and then fascinated as we watched them scurry about the back yard, and then our neighbor's back yard.  It seemed as if they were looking for something, perhaps food, but I'm not sure.  Eventually, they waddled off and out of sight, but it was nevertheless interesting.  At least to us.  I'm used to seeing them at night.

Anyway, it was a quiet day today, at least compared to the other days that have been going on.  My blood pressure needs a quiet day, as it's been on the rise lately and kind of scary.  But that's stress.  And bad eating choices.  And lack of sleep.  And lack of exercise.  And driving in Atlanta a few times over teh course of the week.  Who's had time for any right choices lately?  I've been back on the treadmill, hopefully righting this ship.

We were at taekwondo tonight, of course.  At least for a small amount of time, because I was out doing grocery shopping with Nana, picking up things for home - a big list!  We also went next door to the tractor supply place to pick up some mealworms for the bluebirds.  They'll appreciate that.  So will the robins that pop up there on the feeder, and now blue jays.  The warblers are some of our more frequent visitors, and we've discovered that squirrels like the worms too - we have to shoo them away, because squirrels ruin everything.  They come in to a party, push everyone away, don't share, use up everything and get the owners of the house so upset that the party has to end.  That's a squirrel for you.  I'm going to get a squirt gun.  Nana is in defense of the cute creatures just trying to make their way through this harsh world, but I want to shoot them with a squirt gun.

Anyway, tonight we read as always, and we went to bed early after prayers.  It was a quiet day, a much-needed quiet day.  But it was a good one!
