Here Comes Tropical Storm Elsa

Wimbledon continued today, and we're having fun watching matches and all these obscure matches too.  We haven't picked any favorites to win, although Djokovic has been formidable these past few years.  On the women's side, we have no idea who will wind up on top, but it's fun watching this from day today, along with all the little side extras.

Maddie was watching Marvel theories for a good bit today, but also talking to some small group friends online too.  We had tacos tonight, and oh my, they were really good!  Mom did such a good job with grilled chicken, peppers and onions, and all the toppings you need!  Speaking of toppings, we have a really good tomato out there ready to be picked now, almost red.  We may pick it early and let it ripen on the counter, but wow, it's a big one!  As for the blueberries, they're not quite ready yet.  I'm so anxious about those!

So we're doing a variation of Summer Xtreme, something we'll call "Summer Xtreme Nights."  It's last-minute.  We were not supposed to do anything like this, and now all of the sudden we're being asked to.  It's going to be a fast-paced planning, and here we go with all the preparations.  It won't be as big, but there are a lot of things to be done - three nights in Gainesville, and the same thing elsewhere in Gwinnett, Cumming, Midtown, Spartanburg, and Braselton.  As for the title, we're going with something that goes along with our Storm Chasers series, so that series is technically not quite over with yet!  Who would have ever thought that "Storm Chasers" would be our biggest series of the year?

We had rain in the morning, not storms though.  But a lot of this rain is from a tropical storm, I think, one that was pretty small, but still brought us a good amount of rain.  We've got other rainstorms coming later this week, some of those with a bit of a punch.  So yeah, we might all be thunderstruck.

But as we're talking about storms, there's a tropical storm forming, and this one is called Elsa.  Prepare for the memes.

First we had a Tropical Storm Ana, and now a Tropical Storm Elsa.  Whoever determines the names of these things must be a "Frozen" fan.  When I pointed this fun fact out to a friend, there came the question, "Who makes up the names for these things?"  My answer to him was as follows:

I don’t know the person who comes up with these names, Joey.  I think the guy’s name is Butch Farmer.  He’s a single guy who lives in Preston, Idaho, and all he does for a living is come up with names for hurricanes.  No one knows exactly how he got the job, other than his dad used to have that position.  The National Weather Service calls him up three times a year to check in, and somewhere around February, he sends them a list of names from the alphabet that he was thinking of.  Last November, his niece was watching “Frozen II,” and he thought it would be an interesting name to add to the list.  He crossed that one off the list early, and has always said the “Z” names were his least favorite thing about his job.  Ironically, there hasn’t been a Hurricane Butch - this is because he’s a rather humble sort of character and didn’t want that sort of notoriety.  He regrets naming that hurricane in 2006 after his mom.

Obviously, that's not true.

Anyway, at bedtime, we said our prayers, and we read too.  Jackie Chan the sea turtle is there with us, listening in to the latest adventures of the Kingdom Keepers.  After prayers, it was time to get tucked in, and time for bed.  Pretty tired tonight!
