Summer Day

We made our Shrinky Dinks tonight, and they turned out really well.  Mom found some chains to to run through the holes I punched before we put them in the oven, but it was surprisingly simple to make them.  We sat crouched looking through the window of the oven with the inner light on, watching them curl upwards and then flatten out to a much more solid, thicker form.  Each one turned out fantastic, and will make a nice little trinket for the upcoming blob fish themed party, along with the stickers I printed out as well.

It was a fairly normal day today, much of the same as yesterday.  I was at work, moving forward on a few different projects, including obviously the weekend's material for FCY and KidPak, but also including a Father's Day tag to go with the backscratchers that all the kids get to hand to their fathers.  Here's both sides of that tag I made up:

Meanwhile, Madison was  busy doing her thing, playing games, playing a little piano, talking with friends online.  It was a typical summer day.  Mom has been working on the garden, and it's just such a great thing out there.  We're planning out a fire pit, and might be getting that material soon, although Maddie's birthday party upcoming is the bigger deal presently, and we'll want to do what we can to make that a fun time for the kids coming.

Tonight we were watching a marathon of season three of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", and we're moving towards that midpoint, where things get a little weird for Hydra.  I'm not sure I subscribe to the "space squid" origin of Hydra, or how that actually ties to the criminal world domination aspects of the organization.  I mean, one minute they're bad guys with those typical modest goals of controlling the world, and the next, they're all about bringing back this pathetic squid guy from another planet who isn't much of a threat on his own for a good bit.  If you ask me, Hydra was doing just fine on its own, and maybe if they didn't invest so much in resurrecting a space squid, they'd have gone a little further.  Of course, with the Avengers in the mix, it probably doesn't matter as much.  But still, the space squid was a little out there.

Anyway, we read tonight, and we prayed.  Mom has had challenges at night lately with her digestive issues, and of course Nana is the same as always, crying frequently during the day.  It's a constant battle to keep upbeat and not get sucked down that whirlpool, and it takes a lot of focus and effort, and it's tiring.  We're worn out, especially Mom, because it's all day long.  Summer is here, but it still feels like 2020 to us.  We're stuck going nowhere.  It'd be nice to go somewhere, but that will have to wait.  It's a challenging season.
