Odd Bodkins

You can see above the latest post card as I continue to move forward on the treadmill.  Marching right along on the path for the Corpse Bride, and doing pretty well there.  We're getting used to the new morning routine, getting a lot done before school starts.  This morning I finished "The Cat from Outer Space" as I added another couple miles to the virtual pathway there.  I've also signed up for a Thanksgiving-themed path next, so just as this one finishes at the end of October, I should be ready for a Thanksgiving one that'll be nice.

Maddie was at school this morning, and then off to Nate's house for a fun day there.  She joined us later on this evening, while Mom and I were watching a few seasonal specials, like the Paul Lynde Halloween Special which, and I may have said this before, is an amazing slice of nostalgia from the 70's.  We also visited Sleepy Hollow with the Headless Horseman and an expression I hear each year and never thought about before:  "Odd Bodkins."  So I heard Bing Crosby say it, and then I heard it in "Hocus Pocus," and so I gave it some thought:  what the heck does "Odd Bodkins" mean?  I'm reading that it means "God's Body," some sort of oath that isn't used anymore of course.  It's funny that I've never noticed it before.  Mom, of course, did.

Speaking of which, Mom got us all these amazing coffee flavors for the season, and we've been going through them pretty well.  That's my favorite seasonal mug there, the one with the Mayor of Halloween Town.  It's the perfect cup for this time of year.  Right now I'm enjoying some Mudslide Boogie, compliments of Oogie Boogie.  But everyone knows my favorite is Frog's Breath.

We read tonight, diving deeper into a mystery within the pages of "Jingo," a City Watch story from the Discworld.  It's a unique one, because as mentioned earlier, it's the one I've never read before - the last one - and so each page is a new thing to me.  Later on, we'll hit some other books that I read so long ago that I'm pretty fuzzy about, so those might seem new too.  But this one is genuinely fresh to me, despite the fact that the novel is nearly thirty years old now.  Wow.  Time sure does fly by.

Anyway, we said our prayers, and that was it for the day.  It was a good day though.  Quiet, but nice.  We got some things figured for December's series at KidPak, and we're moving along in other areas.  But now it's time to get some rest!
