Edgefest 2025

Tonight was Edgefest 2025, and it went really well - super fun!  For one thing, the weather was ideal for this sort of thing.  There were a lot of kids here and the basic idea was an "Amazing Race," where kids would get their passports and cycle around to all the different cars that represented different countries.  We were next to Mexico and Canada, our own little China pavilion there.

Mom and I worked pretty hard on our first trunk or treat station - we got these decorations, the stone lions, and of course I carved that pumpkin yesterday.  We pieced together all those lantern lights, made a little display with some China items, and actually gave away fortune cookies and glow sticks.  Mom came up with the great idea for the "dumpling toss," and the two of us were dressed up as pandas!  Mom was a red panda, and I was a big inflatable panda.  It was a long night, but it was fun.  We know the kids had a great time coming to our spot, getting their sticker, and then moving on "around the world."

Meanwhile inside, Maddie was representing Japan, helping with a sumo wrestling event that was pretty funny.  We had this big inflatable sumo costume, and they got to use that tonight, having kids "wrestle" the sumo out of the round ring area.  There was the usual board-breaking, mechanical bull riding, street tacos and more - it was a fabulous night.  Here are a pictures of our car, the first time we ever tried something like this but it turned out really well!

And here's a few other pictures from this great night - some other cars and participants having a great night together!

We're exhausted though!  We spent a good while helping clean up, and then it was time to get home.  And before that was the race against time to get all the elements ready for the big night.  All day we were laboring on that, teamwork from Mom, Maddie and I to get things done in time.  We did it!

Earlier in the day, I did get the last post card from my "Corpse Bride" journey.  I've got about eight miles to go until it's all finished, and it's been a fun little motivational tool, seasonal too!

When we got home, we read a bit from "Jingo" tonight, but I was ready for some sleep after that.  It's been a good day - a long one though!  We had a lot of things to prepare for with the event tonight, printing out stickers, making Chinese lanterns, cutting cardboard, making a "Dumpling Toss" game, and a lot more.  We got it all together and I'm pretty happy with the way it all turned out!  Goodnight!
