Maddie in Wonderland

The family headed down to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens today, this time the location in Atlanta, versus the usual destination here in Gainesville.  We had a guest pass, which meant that George and Thip could get in for free, along with the season passes that Mom and Maddie had.  As you can see above, there's a theme to the topiaries and decorations, a familiar one:  Alice in Wonderland.  It was a really nice trip.

It was hot, but everyone enjoyed it.  Maddie was off taking a lot of pictures, and a lot of really good ones.  I'll share those below here, pictures of flowers, topiaries, butterflies, all on a golden afternoon!

Later on, we actually went to eat together over at Mellow Mushroom, and that was pretty nice.  We got our Pacific Rim pizzas and had a nice time at a relatively uncrowded time window there.  Pretty nice!

It was time for taekwondo after that - we all went together so that George and Thip could watch Maddie spar and practice with weapons for a bit.  And of course they met Nate too.

And we went to the Mexican Ice Cream place after that, and we got there just in time - there was a massive storm brewing, dark low-hanging clouds pushing forward towards us.  We got inside just in time and rode out the storm inside while we ate some tasty ice cream.  It was nice.

We got home after that, and watched "Guardians of the Galaxy" together, which is such a great movie.  It's been a while since we've seen this one, but it's so well done and so much fun.  Glad to see it again.

Tonight we were reading from the Discworld again, moving along with our story in Ankh-Morpork.  We're about to figure out whodunnit, and Maddie's been really into the story moving forward here.  We said our prayers after that - and yeah, it was time for sleep.  Big, long day!
