This afternoon we went with Nana and Ye-Ye back to see Cirque du Soleil, seeing once more a production called "Ovo." For those of you at home keeping score, we did see this before. In fact, back in November of 2010, Maddie saw Cirque du Soleil for the first time, and it was this very production. So yes, she's seen "Ovo" before, fifteen years ago.
This is the second time we've seen a Cirque show in the Gwinnett Arena. We saw Corteo last year about this time with Nana and Ye-Ye, so this might be a tradition. Of course, it's a bit different not being under the grand chapiteau. But at the same time, they do such a fantastic job setting the atmosphere here. We had pretty good seats too, further back so you could take things in. I remember having front row seats for "Ovo" last time, but Cirque is better seen from further back so you can take it all in. Just a little insider's tip there.
Anyway, we thoroughly enjoyed it. This is one of my top five productions they do, just an amazing amount of skill, with some of my favorite Cirque music, and of course the costumes and themes are just outstanding.
Nana and Ye-Ye enjoyed it very much too. We got ourselves some popcorn, drinks, and Maddie got a soft pretzel to munch on. I have to admit that the popcorn bucket was nearly empty before the show even started...
Cirque du Soleil was just the step away from reality that I needed. It's an old friend returning and a sensory delight, a time of refreshing, and just a magical experience. We're always glad to go, and heads up: we've already got tickets for another new production coming soon!
Afterwards, the five of us went over to Cracker Barrel, and that was nice. We got Nana and shirt from Cracker Barrel, something she liked a lot. It's her birthday coming up, so we thought we'd cover dinner and a nice gift as well. We also got them the tickets for the Cirque du Soleil show, so it was a nice day for them. It's funny about clothing - a lot of things at Cracker Barrel look great to Nana and Mom. Rather than going to clothing stores, it seems a lot of the new things that they wear actually come from Cracker Barrel!
Anyway, we got home after that, and took it easy the rest of the night. We've got a busy morning tomorrow at church, a bit short-handed. But it should be fun, the return of a classic series at KidPak!
