Another day at KidPak, and more pictures to share from Maddie. These are just three - it was a shortened day in the KidPak auditorium, because all the students were walking through the prayer line up stairs for the annual "Back to School Prayer Service." It was a shortened day, so no skits, but it's always an important day of course.
We did some shopping after service at the grocery store, and we stopped by to see Nate for a bit. I usually have time to sit in the car waiting, watching a magician act from Penn and Teller's show, something I do every time I'm in the car waiting for Maddie. I've seriously been addicted to all these magician acts, ever since the Disney Cruise.
Anyway, we got home, and Mom had this wonderful meal prepared - so much delicious food, and low on carbs of course. Chicken Marsalis, and a salad with crumbling blue cheese and Italian dressing and onions and all kinds of other bits. The whole thing was a feast, and really tasty.
I had to take a nap today. Didn't sleep as well last night, but the nap was quick. Maddie was in her room for a bit, either drawing or playing Minecraft, her latest hobbies. I was walking again, watching Monty Python as I march along on the treadmill. I think I have nineteen episodes left until I complete the entire series.
We were reading for a good bit, and the weather is cool enough that we can sit out there on that front porch again. I was reading a few things, starting with the little booklet that came with the James K Polk ornament. As much as I already know about this President (thanks to They Might Be Giants), I learned something new in that the song "Hail to the Chief" was first played to announce this President's entrance to the room. Anyway, I read that, and of course another chapter from 1 Samuel, where I've been lately. Saul is just being selected as king, and Saul's servant really helped set all that up by getting Saul to go see Samuel. And after that, I read a bit more from the Riders in the Sky book, which has been fun.
Maddie and I revisited LEGO Gotham City for a few levels in Arkham Asylum, introducing a few more new costumes and abilities and story lines. This was one of our favorite LEGO games, and we've forgotten so many reasons why. It's great rediscovering the reasons together!
Today Isaac and Josie welcomed baby Claire to the family, and that was super awesome for them. Her due date was about five days ago, so they've been somewhat anxious. He sent pictures right away, and everyone is super happy for them.
So tonight's movie was "Fantastic Four" - this time the 2015 version, the one that Mom and Maddie had not seen. Given that we were doing a Fantastic Four marathon, we thought we'd go for it and see all of them before seeing the latest in theaters. Tonight's movie was just dark. It takes forty-five minutes for anyone to get any super powers, Maddie noted, and it just wasn't that great of a movie. Maddie gives it a thumbs down.
We read tonight from "Men at Arms" again, moving along with this mystery of the GONNE, and after that, we said our prayers. Good day today!
