We said goodbye to Uncle George and Thip today, and they made the long trip back to California without incident. They left a little later, and that gave us opportunity for a longer goodbye. Mom made a splendid skillet breakfast, one of her many specialities, and we sat and talked for a bit over coffee and a tasty breakfast. Maddie had Team Edge practice this morning, and that dominated the rest of the morning, an introduction to a new season at Team Edge. Maddie was working on new combos and just getting herself all geared up for a new season, more than likely using nunchucks again, and perhaps a sword. Probably not kamas though, but we'll see! She was over at Nate's house for the rest of the day, and meanwhile, we got absolutely hammered with a storm while she was gone - the rain just punished us! The church lost power again, something it frequently does, and the reason I know this is because the drive there goes down, which has access to all the material that the various campuses need for KidPak. We'll get that soon, but what we see a lot there is the entire neighborhood area lose power, including that stoplight there, which can be daunting to get through when you have so many ignorant drivers. And there are many, many ignorant drivers when a stop light loses power.
We had a calmer day this afternoon, Mom and I. We were watching the rest of "Going Postal," which is actually a fun translation of the Discworld book, and has the bonus of including Terry Pratchett himself in a cameo as a mailman. We enjoyed this one! And speaking of which, Maddie and I are getting close to the end of "Men at Arms," soon to find out whodunnit.
I was doing some bit of bookwork for our newest themed book in September today, and today Mom and I made stop by Goodwill just to look around. Why not? It turns out that I found some real gems with the vinyl records! I got about fifteen vinyl albums, and when I got home, found them each to be valued at quite a bit. Not too bad, as I only spent about a dollar on each one!
Anyway, tonight we continued our "Guardians of the Galaxy" viewing with volume 2. We've seen these before of course, but it's great to go back and watch them again, and catch new things and really appreciate these great hero movies.
Closing out the day, we read and we said our prayers. Got to get up early again tomorrow. And the day after that. College is starting out with orientation and ceremony and all that tomorrow. Exciting time!
